摘要: A drive preserves a default input password. When there is no password input from the user, the default input password is regarded as a user input password and is compared and collated with a password for access protection, thereby controlling the access protection. In this instance, if the default input password and the password for access protection have the same value, a collation coincidence is obtained. The drive permits the access without needing a password input of the user.

摘要: In order to achieve a magazine structure in which any necessary cartridge can be removed or inserted while a magazine is mounted in an autoloading device, a carrier unit is equipped with a lock releasing mechanism at the distal ends of openable/closable arms thereof so that a cartridge received in the magazine may be individually released from locking. This prevents any failure on the reading and writing of data due to removal of any wrong cartridge since the cartridge to be released can be defined by a programmable operation of the carrier unit.

摘要: A vendor ID is written to a system area of a write-once optical disk. When the write-once optical disk is loaded onto a write-once disk drive, a control CPU reads the vendor ID. The vendor ID is written into the header of software received through an interface unit. When the software is input to an SD circuit, the control CPU reads the vendor ID. The control CPU compares the vendor ID in the system area of the write-once optical disk with the vendor ID of the header of the software and checks whether or not the two IDs are identical. If the two IDs correspond to each other, the control CPU writes the software to the write-once optical disk.

摘要: A cartridge access station in a library apparatus for providing safe loading/unloading of a cartridge while maintaining a simple and compact arrangement of the library apparatus. The cartridge access station includes an communication space for establishing direct communication and connection between an operating space for a transferring mechanism in the interior of a library apparatus and an external space of the library apparatus. A rack is provided in the communication space to guide the entry/exit of a cartridge from both sides of the operating space and the external space and to hold the cartridge within the communication space.

摘要: The present invention provides a library apparatus which is capable of ensuring the specification accuracy of a reference flag and a diagnostic cell to make sure the error correction at the initial stage (initial operation) while facilitating the accuracy adjustment of the reference flag and the diagnostic cell, thus allowing the certain insertion/extraction of a cartridge into/from a storage unit or a deck by an accessor. In the library apparatus according to this invention, the reference flag to be read out by a sensor on the accessor side to detect the absolute position of the accessor is disposed close to and integrated with the diagnostic cell into and from which a diagnostic cartridge is inserted and extracted by the accessor to verify the operation of the accessor. This invention is applicable to a large-capacity external storage system storing a large number of cartridges such as magnetic tape cartridges and optical disk cartridges.

摘要: A method of preventing a fraudulent use of an optical disk having a read-write region and a read-only region, comprising the steps of: writing data for designating the boundary between the read-write region and the read-only region into a predetermined block of the optical disk; reading the data out of the predetermined block prior to the execution of the software recorded on an optical disk as an object of fraudulent use check; reading data out of a block which is assumed to be in the read-only region by reference to the data read out of the predetermined block, and writing the data read out of the block in the assumed read-only region into the same block; reading data out of a block which is assumed to be in the read-write region by reference to the data read out of the predetermined block, and writing the data read out of the block in the assumed read-write region into the same block; and judging that the optical disk as an object of fraudulent use check is not a fraudulent copy when the data writing operation is impossible in the block in the assumed read-only region but possible in the block in the assumed read-write region.
