The homogeneity can be improved through an after-heater (6) connected to the heating coil (4) and arranged on the side of the monocrystalline rod part (2), the heater being coaxial with the coil and connected parallel to it.

    摘要: Polycrystalline semiconductor rods are converted to dislocation-free monocrystal rods by positioning a polycrystalline rod within a crucible-free zone melt environment with a seed crystal attached to one end thereof, generating a melt zone at the juncture of the seed crystal and the polycrystalline rod, controllably moving the melt zone away from the juncture and through the polycrystalline rod to a select point thereon, uniformly supporting the cone-shaped lower portion of the rod being processed so as to prevent oscillations and the like at the juncture of the rod in the seed crystal and controllably moving the melt zone from the select point to the remainder of the rod. A uniform support is preferably provided by an axially movable funnel-shaped casing which is attached to the seed crystal holding member and which, when moved into its operating position, is filled with a self-adjusting oscillation or vibration dampening means, such as molten metal, metal spheroids, quartz particles, sand, etc.

    摘要: In an apparatus for crucible-free zone melting, a device for supporting a lower end of the crystalline rod of semiconductor which has a junction with a seed crystal characterized by the support device being formed by a plurality of sections or parts which are moveable relative to each other from a first position spaced or retracted from the seed crystal and the lower end of the rod to enable melting the rod adjacent to the junction and a second position forming a container surrounding the seed crystal and the lower end of the rod for receiving a supporting or stabilizing medium which dampens or prevents vibrations from being applied to the lower end of the rod and the junction. The sections are held in the second position by a holding means which may either be electromagnetic or mechanical.

    摘要: A nuclear power plant has a safety enclosure for a nuclear reactor. A fuel element storage basin is also located in this safety enclosure and a fuel element lock extends through the enclosure, with a cross-sectional size proportioned for the endwise passage of fuel elements, the lock including internal and external valves so that a fuel element may be locked endwise safely through the lock. The lock, including its valves, being of small size, does not materially affect the pressure resistance of the safety enclosure, and it is more easily operated than a lock large enough to pass people and fuel element transport vessels.

The blades are arranged substantially in a radial direction. The support disk also includes a hub that receives an agitator shaft which is preferably motor-driven. The trailing faces of the blades of the agitator and/or the area of the blade connections to the support disk are designed to largely prevent vortex shedding. This is accomplished by implementing a specific geometry for the agitator blades, the support disk, and the connection of the blades to the support disk.
