Abstract:
A method is disclosed that generates design profiles and a surface therefrom that promote water drainage from soil in an area of interest. Topographical data describing an initial surface of the area of interest are used to form initial profiles. The method generates the design profiles using the initial profiles and desired design parameters such as minimum slope, maximum slope, optimal slope, maximum depth, optimal depth, starting elevation, ending elevation, rules of curvature, and rules of earth balancing. The method generates design surface profiles so that the cut volumes and fill volumes of the soil are at or near balance as much as possible from the available soil in the area of interest.
Abstract:
A system for dispensing sprayable material such as paint and other liquefied products. The system includes a dispenser designed to accept a flexible, crushable, container filled with sprayable material and having a valve and spray tip at one end. The container is placed into a slot in the dispenser with the valve on the container secured in the housing of the dispenser. In operation, a plunger that runs lengthwise within the housing of the dispenser exerts force on the bottom of the container crushing it as it is emptied and forcing the sprayable material out through the valve and spray tip.
Abstract:
The invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising tissue kallikrem (TK), and optionally a diabetes drug, a method of screening for a metabolic disorder by determining the concentration of TK and insulin in a biological sample from a test subject, a method of screening for a therapeutic agent for the treatment or prevention of a metabolic disorder, and a method for treating or preventing a metabolic disorder using a pharmaceutical composition comprising TK.
Abstract:
The present invention provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising (S)-bethanechol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and optionally at least one diabetes drug. The use of said composition in the treatment of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance and related disorders is also provided. The invention also provides for a kit comprising the pharmaceutical compositions and instructions for its use.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to microorganisms and processes for the efficient preparation of L-amino acids such as L-methionine. In particular, the present invention relates to microorganisms and processes in which the formation and/or accumulation of homolanthionine in the methionine pathway is reduced and/or prevented.
Abstract:
A technique will automatically route interconnect of an integrated circuit while taking into consideration current density rules. In an implementation, the technique uses a shape-based approach where a grid is not used. Based on data input including current density and a frequency of each net, the technique will determine the current requirements for each net. In an implementation, the technique forms a Steiner tree for a net, and routs using the Steiner tree. The technique widens nets having greater current requirements; adjacent wiring may be pushed aside to create sufficient space for wider nets.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for installing software in a network data processing system. An event is detected in the network data processing system indicating that a software module is to be installed in a set of data processing systems in the network data processing system. A configuration of each data processing system in the set of data processing systems is discovered, and a set of instructions is created using a knowledge base of prior installations. The set of instructions is tailored for each data processing system in the set of data processing systems based on the configuration for the each data processing system in the set of data processing systems. The set of instructions for the software module to be installed is sent to the set of data processing systems.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of identifying herbicides and to the use of inhibitors of plant peptide deformylase as broad spectrum herbicides.
Abstract:
This invention relates to polynucleotide sequences encoding a gene that can confer resistance to at least one herbicide. It further relates to plants and seeds of plants carrying chimeric genes comprising said polynucleotide sequences, which enhance or confer resistance to at least one herbicide, and methods of making said plants and seeds. The invention further presents sequences that can be used as molecular markers that in turn can be used to identify the region of interest in corn lines resulting from new crosses and to quickly and efficiently select the best lines for breeding strategies by avoiding sensitive lines.
