Abstract:
In various embodiments, energy-storage systems are based upon an open-air arrangement in which pressurized gas is expanded in small batches from a high pressure of, e.g., several hundred atmospheres to atmospheric pressure. The systems may be sized and operated at a rate that allows for near isothermal expansion and compression of the gas.
Abstract:
A clamping body for an electric conductor, comprising a clamping body pocket that forms a receiving space for receiving the electric conductor. A threaded bore is formed in a lateral wall of the clamping body pocket in order to receive a screw. The aim of the invention is to devise a solution in which the clamping body substantially has the properties of a clamping body that is made of art alloy containing brass and simultaneously complies with the EU guidelines and regulations prohibiting certain materials. This is achieved in that the clamping body pocket is formed from an alloy containing aluminium, said alloy having a tensile strength of 380 N/mm2 to 480 N/mm2.

In various embodiments, systems for providing a constant electrical output from a compressed gas energy storage and recovery system include a hydraulic-pneumatic energy storage and recovery system configured to provide a varying pressure profile at least at one outlet, a hydraulic motor-pump in fluid communication with the outlet, and a control system for enabling the constant electrical output by controlling at least one of pressure, piston position, power, flow rate, torque, RPM, current, voltage, frequency, or displacement per revolution.
Abstract:
In various embodiments, a pneumatic cylinder assembly is coupled to a mechanism that converts motion of a piston into electricity, and vice versa, during expansion or compression of a gas in the pneumatic cylinder assembly.

Abstract:
A process chamber 1 for PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) coating of a substrate includes an electrode, which is integrated in a contact frame, which is firmly connected to the recipient. A movable carrier in the process chamber carries at least one substrate. The carrier is transported by means of a driven roller positioner into the process chamber or out of the process chamber along a transport route defined by the movement. As soon as the carrier inside the recipient has reached a certain position, the lower roller positioner is uncoupled from carrier by lowering by means of a lifting device. In this regard, the carrier detaches itself from the upper roller positioner. Then, the carrier is accepted by a transfer device (not shown) and brought from the transport position laterally into a treatment position in contact with the contact frame. In this way, reliable contact is produced between the electrode and a counter-electrode provided in carrier. At the same time, other carriers, in so far as the contact frame is removed laterally far enough from the transport route, during the coating of the carrier, can be moved past this.
Abstract:
A method of preparing the surface of a substrate (3) for applying a thermal spray coating (2), wherein recesses are introduced in the surface to be coated, which are subsequently shaped such that the created structures have undercuts. A web (4) having a flat plateau surface (4-1) is created by machining, which, starting at the center (5) of the plateau surface (4-1), is shaped into a widened region (6) such that roof-shaped projections (6′, 6″) directed opposite one another on both sides are created, which form undercuts (10) with the sides thereof facing the surface (3-1) of the substrate (3).

A method for controlling operation of a heat exchanger system comprises providing a heat exchanger system mountable to a rear door of a rack mounted computer system, circulating a heat transport medium through the heat exchanger system, detecting leaks in the heat exchanger system by comparing a first flow rate in an inflow line to a second flow rate in a return flow line, emitting a leakage alert and ceasing further circulation of the heat transport medium through the heat exchanger system when the first flow rate exceeds the second flow rate by a predetermined flow amount, optimizing operation of the rack mounted computer system by monitoring an interior temperature of the rack mounted computer system in a plurality of vertical zones, and optimizing operation of the heat exchanger system by comparing a second temperature measured by a second temperature sensor in the return flow line with a predetermined maximum return flow temperature value.
Abstract:
A start-up clutch and torsional-vibration damper assembly including a disk clutch having an outer disk carrier and an inner disk carrier, and a torsional vibration damper having a primary element, a secondary element, and a spring dampening mechanism. The spring dampening mechanism is disposed between and operatively couples the primary element and the secondary element. The torsional vibration damper connected in series to the disk clutch such that the torsional vibration damper and the disk clutch are juxtaposed to each other along a common axis with the primary element having substantially the same outside radius as the outer disk carrier.
