摘要: Described herein are nitric oxide (NO)-donating poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) polymers and polymer surfaces and methods of making and using the same. The NO-donating PTFE polymers can be used to fabricate at least a portion of an implantable medical device, coat at least a portion of an implantable medical device or form at least a portion of an implantable medical device. The NO-donating PTFE polymers provide controlled release of NO once implanted at or within the target site.

摘要: Described herein are hydrogen sulfide (H2S) donating polymers and polymer systems suitable for coating or forming medical devices and methods for making and using the same. More specifically, described are H2S donating polymers comprising at least one monomer with at least one basic group that can be complexed with H2S to form a charged H2S complex. The H2S donating polymers can provide controlled release of H2S once implanted at or within the target surgical site. The H2S donating polymers can be coated onto a medical device, formed into a medical device or combined with one or more other polymers to form a polymer system.

摘要: A composition for use as a dental impression material including a polymerizable telechelic oligomer or polymer curable by ring-opening metathesis polymerization, a filler system, and a ruthenium carbene complex catalyst, whereby the catalyst initiates ring-opening metathesis polymerization of the composition. The invention includes a paste/paste system in which a base paste includes the polymerizable telechelic oligomer or polymer and a filler system and in which a catalyst paste includes the catalyst dissolved in an inert solvent and a filler system. The telechelic oligomer or polymer may be, for example, a polydimethylsiloxane end-functionalized with norbornenyl groups. The catalyst may be, for example, a ruthenium carbene complex with a ligand having a basicity higher than tricyclohexylphosphine. The composition of the present invention exhibits reduced sensitivity to sulfur impurities.

摘要: In the present invention, the applicants describe methods and compositions of treating damaged cardiovascular elements and cardiovascular conditions including hypotension, atherosclerotic lesions, vulnerable plaque, and acute myocardial infarct. The applicants demonstrate the ability of a biomembrane sealing agent to accumulate on the walls of damaged blood vessels and help improving mean arterial pressure following tissue injury. The applicants describe the use of formulations comprising at least one biomembrane sealing agent and one bioactive agent for prophylactic treatment such as they could be administered concurrently to an invasive therapeutic intervention or after the insult (i.e. post-injury or post-surgery). Alternatively, these methods and compositions could be used to reduce the severity of cardiovascular diseases after onset.

The H2S generating polymers can provide controlled site-specific release of H2S once implanted at or within the target surgical site by hydrolysis of the thioamide group in physiological media. The H2S generating polymers can be coated onto a medical device, formed into a medical device or combined with one or more other polymers to form a polymer system. Also described are methods of treating restenosis and inflammation and promoting vasodilation utilizing such medical devices.

摘要: A composition curable by a metathesis reaction and comprising an olefin-containing resin system and metathesis catalyst. The resin system comprises siloxane-based oligomers or polymers end-capped and/or tethered with olefin functional groups that are capable of undergoing a metathesis reaction. The composition also includes a ruthenium carbene complex catalyst, whereby the catalyst initiates the metathesis reaction of the composition. The oligomer or polymer may be, for example, one or a combination of a telechelic polydimethylsiloxane end-capped with norbornenylethyl groups, a polydimethylsiloxane tethered and end-capped with norbornenylethyl groups, a tri-functional polydimethylsiloxane end-capped with norbornenylethyl groups, or a quadri-functional polydimethylsiloxane end-capped with norbornenylethyl groups.
