摘要: A bifurcate stent delivery catheter is disclosed that includes a proximal shaft and two distal shaft branches having a bifurcated stent mounted thereon, wherein one or more conventional balloon catheters may be advanced within lumens of the bifurcate catheter to deploy the bifurcated stent. Since no balloons are mounted on the bifurcate catheter, the clinician may use any combination of balloon sizes for deploying various portions of the bifurcated stent and thus custom-select appropriate balloon sizes to best treat the bifurcation. Once a conventional balloon catheter is positioned within a distal shaft branch of the bifurcate stent delivery catheter, each of the distal shaft branches of the bifurcate catheter are constructed to split or otherwise expand in a controlled manner upon expansion of the balloon catheter in order to allow the bifurcated stent to be expanded or deployed.

摘要: The invention disclosed herein provides a catheter that acts as both a rapid-exchange (RX) catheter and a multi-exchange (MX) catheter. The catheter includes a proximal shaft, transition shaft, distal shaft, and catheter conversion shaft. Attached to the distalmost tip of the conversion shaft is a clip. The clip allows the conversion shaft to be detachably secured to the transition shaft while the catheter and a guidewire are both in situ. When the clip attaches to the transition shaft, a clip port in the clip aligns with an exchange joint in the transition shaft. In doing so, the catheter conversion shaft and a guide member act to allow the guidewire to be accessible through a guidewire exit of the guide member. The guide member is slidable along the catheter conversion shaft such that the catheter is usable as a MX catheter.

摘要: The present invention protects a catheter during shipment and storage. The device holds a portion of the catheter suspended such that the portion does not contact the device. When the suspended portion includes a stent treated with a therapeutic coating, the coating is protected from physical damage and from the risk that extended contact of the coating with packaging materials may result in the therapeutic agent migrating out of the coating and into the packaging materials or components of the packaging materials migrating into the therapeutic coating, both of which can occur if a therapeutic coating remains in contact with another material for an extended period of time. A catheter bearing an untreated stent, a balloon catheter, and other types of catheter would be similarly protected from physical or chemical damage.

摘要: A catheter assembly according to the present invention includes a handle assembly, an introducer sheath, and a distal tip assembly. The distal tip assembly can include first and second retaining sleeves and a slotted tip with a non-traumatic tip guard positioned at the proximal end of the slotted tip. The handle assembly can include a fixed main handle and two or more rotating handles that allow a user to control the distal tip assembly of the catheter. Each control knob on the handle assembly controls a portion of the components on the distal tip of the catheter by allowing for precise manipulation of various delivery shafts. Each delivery shaft extends from the handle assembly to respective positions towards the distal end of the catheter.

摘要: Catheter assemblies including a handle assembly located on the proximal end of the catheter assembly and a distal tip assembly located on the distal end of the catheter assembly. A crimping funnel is slidably positioned along the catheter. The crimping funnel includes a distal end having a first diameter and a proximal end having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter. An axial split is formed in the proximal end. A first collar is provided encompassing a portion of the proximal end. The first collar is configured to hold the axial split in the proximal end together when the first collar is at a first axial location along the proximal end, and to allow the axial split in the proximal end to open when the first collar is at a second axial location along the proximal end, such that the crimping funnel can be removed from the catheter assembly. Various methods of retaining a prosthetic valve on the catheter assembly during the crimping process are described.

摘要: A tubular stent includes cylindrical rings disposed adjacent to each other and coupled to each other by a plurality of longitudinal segments. Each cylindrical ring includes circumferentially oriented toggle lock struts. The toggle lock struts include a first arm and a second arm coupled together at an elbow. When the stent is in a compressed configuration for delivery, the toggle lock struts are bent at the elbow such that the first arm is disposed at an angle of less than 180 degrees relative to the second arm. Upon radial expansion of the stent, the toggle lock struts are unbent to a straight configuration and permitted to relax slightly beyond the straight configuration to a locked configuration such that the angle between the first arm and the second arm changes from less than 180 degrees to more than 180 degrees.
