Embodiments of systems, computer program product, and related computer implemented methods to issue a closed-loop retail prepaid card including a user-designed external face using a chit, the chit being defined by an identification mechanism representing a financial commitment to issue a closed-loop retail prepaid card in an amount associated with a value paid for the chit, are provided. Embodiments of the present invention advantageously provide a service that enables a consumer to purchase, at the storefront of a retail establishment, a chit card that the consumer can subsequently redeem through a graphical user interface of an Internet website for a closed-loop retail prepaid card with a user-designed external face. The user-designed closed-loop retail prepaid card, for example, can be subsequently printed and delivered to an intended recipient. Advantageously, such a service can be made available to any retail establishment that uses a point-of-sale system.

Organometallic compounds comprising an emissive core and one or more poly-phenylene branches linked to the emissive core. Host moieties are provided as pendant groups on the branches. In some cases, the poly-phenylene chain is linked in meta configuration to reduce π-conjugation in the chain. Suitable host moieties for use in the organometallic compound include those that contain carbazole or triphenylene structures. The quantity and types of host moieties on the organometallic compound may be varied to tune the molecular weight ratio of the host moieties relative to the emissive core. In some cases, the organometallic compound is sufficiently soluble in organic solvents to permit solution processing. Also provided are organic electronic devices comprising organometallic compounds of the present invention and methods for making an organic electronic device using organometallic compounds of the present invention.

Novel triphenylene compounds are provided. Specific examples include multi-aryl-substituted triphenylenes. A preferred group of compounds are triphenylenes that are substituted with a non-fused aryl group having one or more meta-substituents, where each meta-substituent is a non-fused aryl group optionally substituted with further substituents selected from the group consisting of non-fused aryl groups and alkyl groups. A further preferred group of compounds are triphenylenes that are substituted with a non-fused heteroaryl group having one or more meta-substituents, where each meta-substituent is a non-fused aryl or heteroaryl group optionally substituted with further substituents selected from the group consisting of non-fused aryl groups, non-fused heteroaryl groups, and alkyl groups. Some high triplet energy analogs are expected to work with deep blue phosphorescent dopants. The compounds may be useful in phosphorescent organic light emitting devices. Also provided is an organic electroluminescent device comprising an anode, a cathode, and an emissive layer between the anode and the cathode, the emissive layer comprising a phosphorescent material and a compound having a repeat unit, the repeat unit containing a triphenylene moiety.

The first organic layer is capable of phosphorescent emissive when a voltage is applied between the anode and the cathode. The second organic layer may comprise a material having the structure: M may be selected from the group Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, Re, Sn and Ge. The substituents R1 through R10 may be selected from the group consisting of alkyl and aryl groups. Each of R1 through R10 may represent no substitution, mono-, di-, or tri-substitution. The second organic layer may comprise a material having a dipole moment less than about 2.0 debyes, such that the device has an unmodified external quantum efficiency of at least about 3% and a lifetime of at least about 1000 hours at an initial photon flux of about 1018 photons/sr-sec. The second organic layer may comprise a metal complex having a plurality of ligands, wherein each ligand makes the same contribution to the highest occupied molecular orbital and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital of the metal complex. The second organic layer may be in direct contact with the cathode, or there may be a separate organic layer between the second organic layer and the cathode. Other metal complexes having quinolate ligands may be used.
