    摘要: A peritoneal dialysis catheter for insertion into the abdominal cavity of a patient for delivering and withdrawing fluid from a patient comprising a catheter body having a proximal portion, a distal tip portion and a first longitudinally extending lumen configured to deliver fluid into the abdominal cavity. First and second side openings are formed in an outer wall of the catheter body adjacent the distal tip portion and are in fluid communication with the first lumen and configured for passage of fluid therethrough. A stiffening insert is positioned in the distal tip portion and has a first stiffness greater than a second stiffness of the distal tip portion to facilitate entry into the abdominal cavity. The stiffening insert has a lumen therethrough communicating with the first lumen. A method for insertion of the dialysis catheter is also disclosed.

    摘要: A system for treating stenosis in a target blood vessel, such as the common carotid artery, comprising a graft portion having a main portion and a branch portion extending therefrom. The branch portion extends from the intermediate portion of the main portion at an angle thereto and is in fluid communication with the main portion. A first stent is associated with the main portion and is expandable from a first configuration to a second configuration to retain the main portion in position within the target vessel. A second stent is associated with the branch portion and is expandable from a first configuration to a second configuration to retain the branch portion in position within a branching vessel. In one embodiment, the branch portion is integral with the main portion. In an alternate embodiment the branch portion is connected to the main portion.

    摘要: A surgical instrument for applying sutures including an elongated housing having a proximal end and a distal end, means associated with the distal end of the elongated housing for carrying at least one needle, the needle carrier means being movable between a retracted position and an extended position, at least one needle positioned on the needle carrier means, and means associated with the needle carrier means for moving the needle carrier means to the extended position to deploy the at least one needle such that upon movement of the needle carrier means by the moving means, the needle carrier moves from the retracted position to the extended position whereby the at least one needle is caused to travel through a tissue engaging path in one continuous motion. Another embodiment of the surgical instrument of the present invention for applying sutures includes an elongated housing having a proximal end and a distal end and means associated with the distal end of the elongated housing, for carrying and deploying at least two needles at a predetermined distance from each other, the carrying and deploying means being rotatable out of a first plane corresponding to a retracted position and into a second plane corresponding to an extended position while maintaining the at least two needles at the predetermined distance from each other. The instrument preferably further includes at least one needle retaining means associated with the elongated housing for receiving and retaining the at least two needles. The needle retaining means may include a pair of needle receiving pockets disposed within the elongated housing. The needle receiving pockets may be filled with a compliant material or a latch mechanism.

The support includes a linking member linking axially spaced apart portions to one another. A valve membrane extends between the axially spaced apart support portions and includes first region folded over the first linking member and attached thereto and a second region adjacent the first region and unattached to the first linking member. The second region is movable between a first position to enable blood flow and a second position to inhibit blood flow.
