Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication enable user equipment operating in a current cell that provides a multimedia broadcast/multicast service to distinguish between neighboring cells that have different operational characteristics. The presence of a neighboring cell is identified while the user equipment is operating in a first cell and it is determined whether the neighboring cell provides services different from the services provided in the current cell, based on information maintained by the user equipment. The user equipment may move to the neighboring cell to obtain better or different service.
Abstract:
A method of transporting media data includes, by a file-based protocol sending unit of a source device, receiving a stream of data comprising Segments of media data from a segmenter of the source device that forms the Segments, each of the Segments comprising a respective individually retrievable file associated with a unique uniform resource locator (URL), determining locations of media delivery events (MDEs) in the stream of media data, wherein the MDEs include data for at least a portion of one of the Segments, determining one or more transmission time requirements for the MDEs representing times at which the MDEs are to be sent to a client device, and providing the MDEs and data representing the transmission time requirements to a physical layer sending unit of the source device according to available delivery slots for the physical layer sending unit.
Abstract:
An example device for processing media data includes one or more processors configured to receive a file including media data, determine that a portion of the file is potentially erroneous, form error-indicative data indicating that the file includes the portion that is potentially erroneous, and store the file and the error-indicative data to a location available to a target application for the media data of the file. Another example device includes one or more processors configured to receive a file including media data, receive a first set of information indicative of one or more removable portions of the file that can be removed from the file, receive a second set of information indicative of a suspect portion of the file, determine one or more of the removable portions that completely overlap the suspect portion, and remove the determined one or more removable portions from the file.
Abstract:
Systems and methods which provide enhanced isolation for receivers using relatively simple and inexpensive modifications or additional circuitry at a receiving station. Embodiments augment a primary antenna of a receiving station with a correlated heterogeneous antenna element. Augmented antenna systems of embodiments provide an appreciable increase in front-to-back isolation with respect to desired signals received at a receiving station. Such augmented antenna systems are particularly useful in a high interference environment, such as an interference limited environment as may be experienced at the edge of two Single Frequency Networks (SFNs). For example, embodiments of an augmented antenna system may be utilized in situations in which positive carrier to noise ratio (C/N) conditions are present (e.g., more signal than noise is present in the desired signal and more signal than noise is present in the interfering signal).
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices of the various embodiments enable managing a start time of media content in a media receiver device. A processor of the receiver device may receive media content labeled with a transmission time from a sending device. The processor may determine a service construction delay of the media content of the media content. The processor may determine a time offset of the media content based on the service construction delay. The processor may deliver the media content to a streaming media client in the receiver device using the time offset.
Abstract:
Extended duration cyclic prefixes with lower overhead are disclosed in which an integer multiple sequence of carriers above the nominal 300 carrier-per-25 resource blocks (RBs) definition are selected to reduce the cyclic prefix overhead below the normative 20%. Sets of durations are then provided associated with each such integer multiple sequence of carriers that allow for the combined duration of the symbol duration and extended duration cyclic prefix to result in an integer number of carriers for each RB.
Abstract:
Embodiments enable HTTP servers to pass incomplete and/or corrupted files in response to file requests from clients. In the various embodiments, HTTP servers may be enabled to generate status codes identifying that an incomplete version of a file is being returned in response to a file request. In an embodiment, an HTTP server may be enabled to determine the ability of a client to handle incomplete versions of files.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and receiver devices enable broadcasters with restricted content license areas (e.g., Designated Market Areas (“DMAs”) to distribute content via Over the Top (“OTT”) IP networks. Embodiments enable client reporting and authentication as well as broadcast content encryption. In an embodiment, information from the client may be reported back to the broadcasters, such as a view history/use report. In an embodiment, hand off between DMAs may be enabled. In an embodiment, local advertisement insertion in network content may be enabled. Embodiments may enable Multicast-Broadcast Single Frequency Network (“MBSFN”) operation across DMA boundaries.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for reporting signal quality in overlapping Multimedia Broadcast Single Frequency Networks (MBSFN) areas. A UE may determine a signal quality estimate for each of two or more overlapping MBSFN areas based on Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) information and Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) information for the MBSFN area. The UE may then determine a combined signal quality based on the signal quality estimates of the MBSFN areas.
Abstract:
A method for blackout, retune and roaming enforcement in a cellular network multimedia distribution system. The method includes the steps of receiving a plurality of service regions in the cellular network multimedia distribution system; determining an affiliation of the client with one of the service regions in the plurality of service regions; and, processing a service region specific message based on the affiliation. An apparatus, as well as a computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon, the stored instructions, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform the method are also disclosed.
