摘要: Methods and systems are described for managing blackout restrictions. A user device may retrieve a blackout condition from a blackout device. The blackout device may be a node in plurality of blackout nodes. Each of the blackout nodes may store blackout conditions for different corresponding content. The user device may retrieve the blackout condition from a blackout device associated with content in response to a request for the content. The user device may determine whether information associated with the user device satisfies the blackout condition. If the information satisfies the blackout condition, the requested content may be blocked. Alternative content may be output instead of the requested content.

摘要: Systems and methods are described that relate to on-demand compression for electronic data, such as media content, through a communication pathway. The communication pathway may be configured to multicast media content to a plurality of end-users in a service group. In certain embodiments, the service group may comprise a service group node having a quadrature amplitude modulation device. In one exemplary method, it may be determined whether the amount of media content being transmitted meets a first utilization threshold. The determination may be based on, at least in part, by measurements taken at one or more electronic devices located throughout a network or system. If the first bandwidth utilization threshold is not met, media content may be transmitted in a first format. If the first bandwidth utilization threshold is met, at least a portion of the media content may be transmitted in a first optimized delivery technique.

摘要: A monitoring device includes a video buffer model and a user model. The video buffer model monitors a media program streaming across a network to a media client for perceivable transmission impairments. The user model reflects user dissatisfaction due to types of perceivable transmission impairments and timing, duration, and frequency of perceivable transmission impairments so as to estimate a quality of experience of the media program. The parametric model can include one or more parameterized functions, and a set of parameters used in at least one of the one or more of the parameterized functions at a point in time during the streaming of the media program can be based on a type of perceivable transmission impairment associated with the point in time.

摘要: A method for monitoring streaming video content is provided. Content Delivery Network (CDN) feed sent over one or more CDNs is monitored and analyzed using a first soft probe deployed in the one or more CDNs to generate a first video session record. Video traffic sent over a packet core network (PCN) is monitored and analyzed using a second soft probe deployed in the PCN to generate a second video session record. A third session record is generated by correlating the first session record to the second session record. The third session record corresponds to an end-to-end video streaming session. One or more performance characteristics corresponding to the end-to-end video streaming session are generated based at least in part on the third session record.

摘要: In one aspect, an example method for outputting an alert indicating a functional state of a back-up video-broadcast system involves: a computing device receiving a first video-stream that represents first video-content; the computing device generating a first signature based, at least in part, upon an extent of aspect-ratio transitions included within the first video-content; the computing device receiving a second video-stream that represents second video-content; the computing device generating a second signature based, at least in part, upon an extent of aspect-ratio transitions included within the second video-content; the computing device making a determination that the generated first-signature and the generated second-signature lack a threshold extent of similarity; and responsive to the determination that the generated first-signature and the generated second-signature lack the threshold extent of similarity, the computing device outputting an alert.

摘要: Systems, devices, and methods for streaming or otherwise delivering media content over a network are provided. One exemplary method of streaming media content over a network using a RS-DVR system involves receiving, at the RS-DVR system, a request for a portion of the media content from a media player on a client device via the network, receiving, at the RS-DVR system, the portion of the media content from an origin server on the network, buffering the portion of the media content at the RS-DVR system, and transmitting the portion of the media content to the media player on the client device. The portion of media content may be transmitted using a modified transport layer protocol, and in some embodiments, marked as non-cacheable.
