Abstract:
A communications device includes a receiver, a transmitter, a controller. The receiver is configured to receive signals representing downlink data from an infrastructure equipment of a wireless communications network via a wireless access interface having a logical baseband frame structure. The transmitter is configured to transmit signals representing uplink data to the infrastructure equipment via the wireless access interface, the logical baseband frame structure being formed from one or more minimum frequency units and one or more time units to form communications resources for allocation by the infrastructure equipment to the communications device. The controller is configured to receive a signal providing an indication of one or more frequency resources available within a host frequency band, to combine the one or more frequency resources within the host frequency band in time and/or frequency to form the one or more of the minimum frequency units of the logical baseband frame structure.
Abstract:
A communications device including a transmitter transmitting data signals to a network element of a wireless communications system using shared resources of an uplink of a first wireless access interface included in the network element, a receiver receiving data signals from the network element using shared resources of a downlink of the first wireless access interface, allocations of the shared resources being made by the network element and the uplink of the first wireless access interface is within a first set of resources, and a controller controlling the transmitter and receiver to transmit/receive signals representing data to/from another communications device using a second wireless access interface within a second set of resources formed from resources of the first set of resources for preferable allocation for device-to-device communications by the network element, resources of the second wireless access interface being time divided into at least a data and control regions.
Abstract:
A method of transmitting/receiving data between a communications device and a mobile communications network including a wireless access interface providing communications resources within a system bandwidth and in time divided units allocated to communications devices of first and second types having different capabilities. The method generates, at the communications device, a random access message, by selecting a sequence from a predetermined set of sequences, which have been allocated to the communications devices of the second type and transmitting the random access message from the communications device to the wireless communications network, and in response to the random access message, receives a random access response at the communications device transmitted according to the capability of the communications device of second type, the random access message being recognized as from a communications device of second type from the selected one of the predetermined sequences allocated to the communications devices of second type.
Abstract:
A communications terminal includes a transmitter to transmit signals, a receiver to receive signals, and a controller to control the transmitter and receiver. The controller includes an input buffer receiving data packets for transmission. The controller can identify whether the received data packets are delay tolerant or non-delay tolerant, to determine a current state for communications for transmitting the data packets and based on predetermined conditions including a current state for radio communications, an amount of the delay tolerant data packets in the input buffer, and an amount of the non-delay tolerant packets in the input buffer, either transmit the non-delay tolerant data packets or transmit the non-delay tolerant data packets and the delay tolerant data packets from the input buffer to a mobile communications network using the transmitter, or maintain the delay tolerant or non-delay tolerant data packets in the input buffer until the predetermined conditions are satisfied.
Abstract:
A user device for transmitting and receiving data to and from an infrastructure equipment via a wireless access interface. The user device is configured to receive an indication from the infrastructure equipment of a location and duration of a temporal response window for receiving response messages, the response messages being received in response to access request messages and the location and duration of the temporal response window having been determined by the infrastructure equipment. The user device is configured to transmit an access request message for requesting access to the wireless access interface to the infrastructure equipment, and to receive a response message in response to the access request message from the infrastructure equipment, wherein the user device is configured to receive the response message in the temporal response window.
Abstract:
A communications device transmits/receives data from/to a mobile communications network including one or more network elements arranged to form a wireless access interface for transmitting/receiving data. An up-link includes a control channel for transmitting signalling information from the communications device to the mobile communications network in accordance with a predetermined format in which signals which representing the signalling information occupy, in the time domain, the predetermined number of frequency division multiplexed symbols of the control channel. A controller is configured to control a transmitter unit to transmit the signals and a receiver unit to receive the signals to transmit or receive the data. The controller is configured to adapt the transmission of the signals representing the signalling information transmitted, by the transmitter unit, in the control channel to occupy a smaller number of the predetermined number of frequency division multiplexed symbols of the time period of the control channel.
