Abstract: A mobile telecommunications system method is described. A property of a first received reference signal from a first base station operating in a first mobile telecommunications system and a property of a second received reference signal from a second base station or a user equipment operating in a second mobile telecommunications system are measured. It is switched from the first base station to the second base station as a serving base station based on the property of the first received reference signal and on the property of the second received reference signal.

Abstract: A communications device is provided, which is configured to transmit or receive signals via a wireless access interface provided by the wireless communications network to or from one or more infrastructure equipment. The communications device is configured, at the time of a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection establishment procedure, to receive a first message from one of the infrastructure equipment comprising an indication that the infrastructure equipment is capable of operating in accordance with a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) in accordance with a first radio access technology, to establish a PDCP entity based on the received indication, and to transmit a second message to the infrastructure equipment comprising an indication that the communications device is capable of operating in accordance with one or both of the PDCP in accordance with the first radio access technology and a PDCP in accordance with a second radio access technology.

Abstract: Methods are provided for communicating in a mobile network, the mobile network comprising a plurality of infrastructure equipment, each providing wireless connectivity within at least one cell, and a device configured to communicate wirelessly with at least a first of the infrastructure equipment in control of a first cell. In some embodiments, the method comprises determining, at the device, whether a second cell under control of a second of the infrastructure equipment is connected to a first core network operating in accordance with a first protocol or both of the first core network and a second core network operating in accordance with a second protocol, and transmitting, by the device, an automatic neighbor relation report to the first infrastructure equipment, a report comprising an indication of whether the second cell is connected to the first core network or both of the first core network and the second core network.
