摘要: The microspheres have many possible applications including smart drug delivery, breaking and damper devices. In one arrangement, a microsphere comprises a shell 120 and a core 110. The core comprises a liquid, which may be a drug, while the shell comprises magnetic particles. The microsphere is deformable in response to application of an external magnetic field. Also disclose is an arrangement in which a microsphere has a magnetic core and a PDMS shell.

摘要: A three dimensional (3D) fractal structure with H as the mother element is hereby disclosed. Such a 3D structure can act as selective total microwave reflectors or selective microwave filters in transmission. When excited through current injection, such a 3D fractal structure can act as highly efficient antenna for radiating or detecting pre-determined microwaves, with the relevant wavelength much larger than the size of the radiation or detection structure.

摘要: This invention provides a composite material having a matrix of structural material containing embedded zones of soft elastic material and zones of solid relatively high density material within the soft elastic material. By selecting a particular resonance frequency for the subunits of soft elastic material and solid high density material, frequencies just lower than the resonance frequencies will be unable to propagate through the material and be strongly reflected or absorbed. Such material may be used in the manufacture of filters or shields against particular target frequencies. Subunits having a variety of resonance frequencies may provide a broader range of frequencies that the material may shield.

摘要: A moveable mask with a pin hole therethrough is disposed between a source of an object beam and a holographic recording medium. The pin hole limits the angular range of rays of the object beam transmitted to the medium, thereby preventing intermodulation distortion caused by rays of the object beam that have large angles therebetween. The mask may be moved to cause all of the rays of the object beam to pass through the pin hole, whereby a hologram is recorded.
