The communication system also includes a target that transmits a response to the command by load-modulating the electromagnetic wave. The initiator performs a first mode communication to acquire real data. The response is transmitted by the target at a timing of any one of one or more time slots and includes the real data. The initiator has a unit that causes the command to be transmitted with a first value in time slot information when the first mode communication is performed. The target has a unit that recognizes the time slot information included in the command from the initiator. The target also has a unit that causes the response including the real data to be transmitted at a timing of a preset time slot, when the time slot information has the first value.

摘要： A tape cassette including a cartridge and one tape reel provided in the cartridge, with a recording medium in the form of a tape being wound upon the tape reel. In the tape cassette, a leader tape that is more rigid than the recording medium in the form of a tape is connected to an unwinding end of the recording medium in the form of a tape; a toothed portion (a protrusion) is formed on at least a portion of both side edges of the leader tape; the tape reel has a flange on a top portion and on a bottom portion of a hub, and feed teeth (engaging portions) that engage the protrusions of the leader tape are formed on outer peripheral edges of the flanges. Rotation of the tape reel in one direction causes the engaging portions to feed the protrusions, whereby the leader tape is sent out from the cartridge. The tape cartridge of the invention can be reliably mounted to a recording/reproducing apparatus.

摘要： A tape cartridge housing a magnetic tape includes an auxiliary storage medium having a storage unit in which to store the recording medium information such as design parameters or the number of times of recording and/or reproduction of the magnetic tape, and a transmission/reception unit for effecting inputting/outputting of the recording medium information with the recording and/or reproducing apparatus. The auxiliary storage medium is mounted so that the transmission/reception unit is exposed to the outside through an opening provided in a lateral surface of the main cartridge body unit not obstructing the loading of the magnetic tape, that is in a surface of the main cartridge body unit other than its front surface as an inserting end of the tape cartridge into the inside of the recording and/or reproducing apparatus. The auxiliary storage medium has an antenna constituting the transmission/reception unit for inputting/outputting the recording medium information with the recording and/or reproducing apparatus. It is through this antenna that the power is supplied from the auxiliary recording and/or reproducing unit provided on the recording and/or reproducing apparatus in accordance with a non-contact system transmitting the recording medium information and the power overlaid on the recording medium information.
