Disclosed is an internal combustion engine comprising a main chamber and an auxiliary chamber which are interconnected with each other via a connecting passage. The connecting passage is tangentially connected to the inner wall of the auxiliary chamber. A raised portion is formed on the inner wall of the auxiliary chamber at a position located opposite to the inner wall to which the connecting passage is tangentially connected with respect to the axis of the auxiliary chamber. A recess is formed on the inner wall beneath the raised portion. The nozzle of a fuel injector is directed to the recess so as to form a rich air-fuel mixture therein and to form a rich air fuel mixture in the auxiliary chamber. The spark plug has an electrode mounting end face on which the central electrode and the earthing electrode are mounted. The mounting end of the central electrode is covered by an insulator and is disposed in the periphery of the electrode mounting face end. The spark gap of the spark plug is arranged on the periphery of the electrode mounting end face at a position located opposite to the mounting end of the central electrode. The spark plug is disposed in the auxiliary chamber so that the insulator covering the mounting end of the central electrode is directly exposed to a lean air-fuel mixture swirling in the auxiliary chamber, and the spark gap of the spark plug is located in the recess in which a rich air-fuel mixture is formed.

A compensation apparatus for a carburetor having a first opening in the wall of the air intake passage near the edge of the throttle valve so that the first opening is positioned upstream or downstream of the throttle valve depending on the degree of opening thereof. A second opening is similarly provided in the wall of the air intake passage so that it is positioned downstream of the throttle valve, at least when the first opening is positioned upstream thereof. A connecting passage joins the first and second openings, and a further passage supplies fuel to the connecting passage. Air is reversely bled through the first opening and fuel is discharged through the second opening, whereby fuel shortage due to response delay in the transitional region between the low-speed and high-speed phases, or in the transitional region between the idling and the low-speed phases, is prevented.

The method (100) comprising obtaining (104, 106), for each of the plurality of images, a segmentation in a plurality of regions and a set of keypoints, and tracking (108) at least one region between a first image and a subsequent image resulting in a matched region in the subsequent image taking into account a matching between keypoints in the first image and the subsequent image. The latter results in accurate tracking of regions. Furthermore the method may optionally also perform label propagation taking into account keypoint tracking.

A signal processor (30) for a submillimeter wavelength active radar system (10, 20, 30) processes signals received and downconverted by the radar system, the downconverted signals corresponding to a given pixel of the field of view having time varying amplitude and phase components which have a periodic component which is dependent on content. Information about the content is discriminated from the periodic component. By using phase rather than only amplitude, there is additional information in the downconverted signals. The phase is more sensitive to changes in the content such as objects, background and atmospheric conditions, than amplitude alone. The phase information enables the periodic component to be retained which can be characteristic of the content owing to content flutter, changes in submillimeter standing waves and interference fringes in received reflections of submillimeter illumination if surface layers have a thickness of a number of half wavelengths.

In this way a probability value is determined which indicates the plausibility that a vehicle or traffic participant might enter into collision within a certain time horizon in the future.
