A novel method for production of an exogenous protein is provided, the method being suitable for expression of an exogenous protein, especially a recombinant antibody etc., in an eucaryotic cell by utilizing a genetic recombination technique. That is, a novel method for production of an exogenous protein is provided which allows for culture of a cell in which an exogenous gene is introduced in a serum-free medium and an efficient production of an exogenous protein, by using, as a host cell for expression, a fused cell which is prepared by fusing a mouse myeloma and a lymphatic cell and which can be cultured in a serum-free medium.

In a method of producing an immunopotentiator, a plant tissue material is extracted with hot water, the insoluble material is filtered, and the filtrate thereof is treated with glucoamylase to decompose a starch, thereby obtaining a water-soluble polysaccharide. Ammonium sulfate is added in a culture filtrate obtained by culturing any one of Asp Oryzae of the Aspergillaceae and Lentinus edodes of the Basidiomycetes to obtain an enzyme complex from the precipitate. The water-soluble polysaccharide and the enzyme complex are added together to cause them to react at a pH of 4.5 for 30 to 60 minutes and then at a pH of 6.0 for 30 to 60 minutes, thereby biologically modifying the water-soluble polysaccharide.

A stopper member is provided at the outer periphery of the second member for slowing the rotational speed of the first member with respect to the second member by stopping the projection in the rotational direction at a third predetermined rotational angle which is less than the first predetermined rotational angle and more than the second predetermined rotational angle.

A creep phenomenon of an automotive vehicle is prevented by an arrangement which is provided with an anti-creep mode which is operative to change the gear automatically to a speed range having a relatively low speed reduction ratio when the vehicle is at rest. A double engagement within the transmission and resulting oscillations which would occur when a special operation is performed is prevented. At this end, a time delay is provided before shifting to the anti-creep mode when the vehicle is at rest and the throttle valve opening of an engine is equal to or less than a given value.

The transmission comprises a speed ratio detecting valve for detecting lower and higher limits of a predetermined speed ratio and a clutch control valve for conducting the switchover between the low and high speed drive power trains with a predetermined time lag after the actual speed ratio reaches a range defined by the lower and higher limits of the predetermined speed ratio.

By a QTL analysis and so forth using 4-HPPD inhibitor-susceptible rice and 4-HPPD inhibitor-resistant rice, a hypothetical gene (HIS1 gene) of an iron/ascorbate-dependent oxidoreductase gene located on a short arm of chromosome 2 of rice has been identified as a 4-HPPD inhibitor-resistance gene. Further, it has also been revealed that a homologous gene (HSL1 gene) of the HIS1 gene is located on chromosome 6 of rice. Furthermore, it has been found out that utilizations of these genes make it possible to efficiently produce a plant having increased resistance or susceptibility to a 4-HPPD inhibitor and to efficiently determine whether a plant has resistance or susceptibility to a 4-HPPD inhibitor.

This invention is intended to isolate and identify a vWF-specific cleaving protease. The vWF-specific cleaving protease cleaves a bond between residues Tyr 842 and Met 843 of vWF and comprises a polypeptide chain having Leu-Leu-Val-Ala-Val (SEQ ID NO: 1) as a partial sequence, and more preferably comprises a polypeptide chain having the partial N-terminal amino acid sequence of a mature protein, Ala-Ala-Gly-Gly-Ile-Leu-His-Leu-Glu-Leu-Leu-Val-Ala-Val (SEQ ID NO: 2), and having a molecular weight of 105 to 160 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing or non-reducing conditions. Isolation and identification of this vWF-specific cleaving protease have led to the possibility of replacement therapy for patients having diseases resulting from a deficiency of the protease, such as thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.
