摘要: Methods are provided for decreasing aldehyde content in polyolefin materials comprising combining with the polyolefin material an organic additive compound which reacts with aldehydes to form water and a resulting organic compound. The organic additive compound comprises at least two hydrogen-substituted heteroatoms bonded to carbons of the organic additive compound such that the organic additive compound is reactive with aldehydes present in the polyolefin to form water and the resulting organic compound, which comprises an unbridged five- or six-member ring including the at least two heteroatoms. The resulting organic compound advantageously neither imparts an off-taste to food and beverage products in contact with the polyolefin nor discolors the polyolefin. Preferred polyolefins include polypropylene and polyethylene.

摘要: A system and method for deciding whether to initiate an idle handoff in a wireless communications system is disclosed. A mobile station having an integrated chip and software instructions executed by that chip obtain samples at first and second times of the pilot signals radiated by first and second base stations. A determination is then made whether to initiate an idle handoff based upon a comparison of the total strengths of the second time samples and a position-weighting term with a design constant. The position-weighting term accounts for the change in position of the mobile station relative to the first and second base stations in between the first and second sample times. The position-weighting term may itself be weighted to account for the strength of the earliest arriving multipath component of the first and second pilots relative to the total strength of the first and second pilots.

摘要: A forward pass through a sequence of strokes representing a handwritten equation is performed from the first stroke to the last stroke in the sequence. At each stroke, a path score is determined for a plurality of symbol-relation pairs that each represents a symbol and its spatial relation to a predecessor symbol. A symbol graph having nodes and links is constructed by backtracking through the strokes from the last stroke to the first stroke and assigning scores to the links based on the path scores for the symbol-relation pairs. The symbol graph is used to recognize a mathematical expression based in part on the scores for the links and the mathematical expression is stored.

摘要: A packaged aqueous carbonated beverage comprising a container which replaces at least a portion of CO2 that permeates through the container or closure. The container comprises a polyester composition including a polyester suitable for packaging aqueous carbonated beverages and a carbonating agent. The aqueous carbonated beverage is disposed in the container such that the aqueous carbonated beverage has direct contact with the container and a closure seals the beverage in the container. The carbonating agent reacts with water in the carbonated beverage forming CO2 for replacing at least a portion of CO2 that permeates through the container or closure. A corresponding method of packaging an aqueous carbonated beverage is disclosed.

摘要: A container is provided for substances that contain an antibacterial compound. The container is comprised of a tube body and a tube shoulder that includes a tube nozzle. The tube body may have a laminate structure. The tube shoulder may be comprised of an alkene based polymer such as a polyethylene or a polypropylene. Such alkene based polymers have a high absorptivity for antibacterial compounds such as triclosan. It has been found that the absorptivity for triclosan can be reduced through the use of at least one of polytrimethylene naphthalate, polyethylene naphthalate and acrolonitrile/methacrylate as the surface contacting the composition containing the antibacterial. This surface can be a film on the tube shoulder/nozzle, the full structure of the tube nozzle, an insert in the tube nozzle or a co-injection molded surface on a shoulder/nozzle. The absorption is less than 1.0 mg/dm2.
