Abstract:
High speed milling or drilling tool of the type including a rotatable head which carries several circumferentially arranged cutting insert holders for reversible cutting inserts retained by dogs. Each insert has a pair of parallel top surfaces bounded by four orthogonal end surfaces, two of which are received against perpendicular sidewalls in an open pocket of the holder. Each top surface has at least one pair of elongate clamping indentations which are formed as surfaces of rotation and lie at a like angle .beta. to the adjacent end surface of the insert.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a cutting tool that can firmly hold four types of cutting inserts by one tool main unit. A cutting insert of a cutting tool 1 has an approximately triangular stereoscopic shape including three corner portions. A tool main unit has a fixing portion that can selectively fix a plurality of types of cutting inserts, including: a negative type cutting insert of which angle of the corner portion exceeds 60°, a positive type cutting insert of which angle of the corner portion exceeds 60°; a negative type cutting insert of which angle of the corner portion is less than 60°; and a positive type cutting insert of which angle of the corner portion is less than 60°. The fixing portion has a bottom face that contacts with a bottom face of the cutting insert, and a side wall face that contacts with a side face of the cutting insert. A portion, which contacts with the cutting insert, of the side wall face of the fixing portion differs depending on the type of the cutting insert.
Abstract:
A cutting tool comprising a tool holder (2) with a pocket (22) and a cutting insert (3) in the shape of a polygon having at least three side surfaces (33, 34, 35). The pocket (22) is provided with a base support surface (24) and at least two lateral support surfaces (25, 26). The cutting insert (3) is releaseably securable in the pocket (22) with two side surfaces of the insert (34, 35) abutting the two lateral support surfaces (25, 26) of the pocket (22). At least one of the side surfaces (33, 34, 35) and at least one of the lateral support surfaces (25, 26) are provided with a notch (37) and a complimentary rib element (28) extending in an axial direction of the insert and interacting for providing an end stop of the cutting insert (3) in the pocket (22).
Abstract:
A clamping device having a high clamping force and operability when a cutting insert is attached/detached is provided. The clamping device has a guide hole, a screw hole, a clamp member having a clamp portion and arranged movably in the guide hole, and a screw member screwed with the screw hole and movable in first and second directions, wherein the screw member can be engaged with the clamp member in movement both in the directions and the guide hole has a first cam surface engaged with the clamp member and converting a force in the first direction received from the screw member into a force for moving the clamp member in a direction toward the cutting insert and a second cam surface converting a force in the second direction into a force for moving the clamp portion in a direction away from the cutting insert.
Abstract:
An indexable cutting insert includes a rake face, a flank surface, a bottom surface, and a central aperture defined by an aperture side wall. The indexable cutting insert further has a mouth defined by a mouth surface. There is a primary coolant trough that has an aperture section in the side wall contained in the aperture side wall, a mouth section contained in the mouth surface, and a rake face section contained in the rake face. There is a radial angular coolant trough, which has an entrance end opening into a selected one of the primary coolant trough and the mouth. The radial angular coolant trough has an orientation wherein the central longitudinal axis thereof is generally perpendicular to a corresponding discrete cutting edge whereby during operation a coolant stream is directed toward the corresponding discrete cutting edge.
Abstract:
A rhombus-shaped cutting insert has opposing upper and lower surfaces, and a peripheral side surface extending therebetween having alternating obtuse and acute corner surfaces separated by four relief surfaces. The cutting insert is removably secured in an insert receiving pocket of a tool holder and indexable about a central axis. A nose cutting edge is formed at the intersection of one of the upper and lower surfaces with each of the two acute corner surfaces. One of the upper and lower surfaces has an engagement surface having a single primary and four secondary engagement elements. The primary and secondary engagement elements or portions thereof, exhibit minor symmetry about primary and secondary engagement planes. The primary engagement plane contains the central axis and intersects each nose cutting edge, and each secondary engagement plane does not contain the central axis and forms an acute engagement angle with the primary engagement plane.
Abstract:
A grooving insert includes a cutting edge extending over the width of the insert, a main flank and a rake face and also a supporting side opposite the rake face. The grooving insert has a substantially cube-shaped outer contour and consists of two geometrically identical cube halves merging into one another in a parting plane. Each cube half has a separate cutting edge and the cube halves lie so as to be rotated by 90° relative to one another and turned by 180° relative to one another.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cutting plate for a chip-removing cutting tool, comprising a cutting plate top face and a cutting plate bottom face, one or more lateral faces, cutting edges at the transition between the cutting plate top face and the one or more lateral face, and a circular chip recess in the cutting plate top face that has an outside diameter d1. In order to reduce the production costs, according to the invention the following applies to the outside diameter d1 of the chip recess: 2 mm
