摘要: The method includes: providing first and second sheets of translucent glass having first and second principle sides, coating a portion of one of the first principle sides of first and second sheets with a layer of ceramic paint; placing the first and second sides of coated translucent glass together such that first principle surfaces are in contact with each other forming a sandwich; applying a layer of material on a portion of an external surface of one of first and second glass sheets that will cause differential heating of the layer of ceramic paint applied to a portion of one of the first principle side of first and second sheets when the sandwich is heated to temperatures which will fuse first and second sheets together; and heating the sandwich to a sufficient temperature for a sufficient time such that first and second coated sheets of glass are fused together.

摘要: A method and equipment for adjusting the temperature of glass sheets in a tempering furnace. The tempering furnace (1) comprises rollers (3) for conveying and oscillating the glass sheets (4) during heating, and resistors (5, 6) for heating the glass sheets (4) from above and from below. The temperature of the glass sheets (4) is measured inside the tempering furnace (1) during heating and the dwell time of the glass sheets (4) in the furnace is adjusted based on the temperature measurements. This enables exact control of the final temperature of the glass from the beginning, and the temperature can be kept uniform independently of the measures taken by the operator.

摘要: Disclosed is a method of preparing refractive microlenses in a single step, utilizing laser-induced surface structure formation in semiconductor doped glasses (SDGs). The SDG materials, in conjunction with above-bandgap wavelength laser sources, are used to fabricate lenses that operate with light of below-bandgap wavelengths. In accordance with the teaching of this invention lenses on an approximately 5-500 .mu.m diameter scale are fabricated individually or in arrays by laser irradiation of absorbing glasses. The microlenses have controllable characteristics and can be fabricated to have focal lengths as short as tens of microns. The lenses are generally parabolic or spherical in shape and are highly reproducible.

摘要: The present invention provides a glass bending device including an oven and a mold within the oven having a number of parallel horizontally extending pipes supported by at least two template plates. A number of parallel horizontally extending heating elements are suspended over the mold and can be raised or lowered by raising or lowering a template which acts on cables attached to the suspended heating elements. The second template causes the overall cross-sectional shape of the suspended heating elements to be the same as or the opposite of the shape of the second template.

摘要: A furnace for treating glass sheet material and the like in a glass tempering system. The furnace includes an upper glass treating zone and a lower gas treating and distributing zone for homogenizing gases of different temperatures to minimize exposure of the sheet being treated in the treating zone to uneven temperatures. Diametrically opposed inlets and outlets are provided in the side walls controlled by doors, and a slot in the top wall extends between the inlets and outlets to permit movement of a material carrier through the furnace. A pressure chamber communicates with the slot to cool conveyor elements at the top of the furnace, and also to provide a pressure barrier resisting the escape of gases from the furnace through the slots. Air curtains impinge on the tops of the doors in their closed positions to reduce leakage at the top of the doors.
