An electromagnetic valve having a high coupling strength between a valve portion and a solenoid portion is secured at a low cost without large-sizing the solenoid portion. Recessed portions positioned on one end side of a valve body and having inner wall faces formed by inclining faces that incline from the one end side of the valve body to the other end side towards its depth are provided on a valve body side face positioned on one end side of the valve body to be opposed to each other. Cuttings for forming caulking pieces are positioned corresponding to the recessed portions on the side wall on an opening side of a magnetic case. The valve and solenoid portions are coupled such that they are biased in directions they are fitted to each other by abutting the caulking pieces on the inclining faces to caulk them in the recessed portions
Abstract:
An electrically-operated plunger-type valve assembly includes a housing, an electromagnetic actuator and a plunger assembly, which is positioned in the housing and supported for movement in the housing. The valve assembly includes a biasing member, which applies a force to the plunger assembly to close the communication between inlet and outlet ports to thereby close the valve assembly. The actuator generates a magnetic field to move the plunger assembly against the biasing member force to move the plunger assembly to control the valve. The plunger assembly includes a seal that seals the communication passage to close the valve when the plunger assembly is moved to its closed position. Pressurized fluid in the inlet port causes the seal to radially seal against the communication passage, which reduces the required biasing member spring force and reduces the energy needed to move the plunger assembly.

A three-way gas control valve assembly for selectively controlling gas flow from one inlet port into two outlet ports or vice-versa, such as may be required for flow control of hydrogen-containing reformate in fuel cell applications. The valve assembly comprises three subassemblies: a metering subassembly disposable within the high-temperature environment in the fuel cell for mechanically regulating reformate flow; an actuating subassembly disposable outside the fuel cell and connected to the metering subassembly for actuating a pintle shaft and valve head in the metering subassembly; and a coupling tube subassembly extendable through an insulative shroud to mechanically couple and thermally isolate the metering and actuating subassemblies.
Abstract:
A valve system for the pre-engagement unit of a vehicle braking pressure modulator contains solenoid valves, which are controlled by an electronic braking system. Pneumatic pressure is fed into a brake cylinder on the vehicle wheels via a pressure regulating channel of the pre-engagement unit. The solenoid valves are configured as cartridge solenoid valves, so that assembly is simplified, and utilization of elastic tolerance compensating elements is unnecessary. A preferred embodiment includes three cylinder bodies connected end-to-end with no increase in cylinder diameter. This embodiment enables the use of identical armatures and identical magnet coils for different valve types, such as 3/2-way solenoid valves or 2/2-way solenoid valves. Also, these valves may be configured as normally open or normally closed, with identical outside dimensions. As such, three cartridge solenoid valves can be combined into a compact triple valve cartridge unit that further simplifies the assembly process.

A valve includes a bobbin/valve body, a solenoid and a plunger. The bobbin/valve body is formed in one piece, defines all of the valve's inlet/outlet ports and forms the entire support structure for the solenoid and the plunger. To assemble the valve, a plunger body is inserted into the bobbin/valve body through an end opening into a longitudinal bore and a spring positioned to bias the plunger body to a normally closed position. A pole piece is then inserted through the end opening into the longitudinal bore and attached to the bobbin/valve body. A solenoid coil is wound around a central cylindrical section of the bobbin/valve body, and terminal pins and a flux conductor are attached to the bobbin/valve body. The attachment of the pole piece, the terminal pins, and/or the flux conductor may be accomplished by press-fit and/or swage coupling techniques.

A solenoid-operated valve has a disk-shaped member connected to one end of a movable iron core, for integrally interlocking the movable iron core; and a lining member formed of an elastic material for covering the disk-shaped member; wherein when a solenoid section is in a non-excited state, only a part of a projection formed on the lining member contacts with a lower surface of a ring member, and when the solenoid section is excited, a contact area of the projection with respect to the ring member is gradually increased.

A fluid control valve housing has first and second connection ports, and first and second valve ports. First and second valves, adjacent to the valve ports, are attached to a transfer tube that extends through the housing. A spring outwardly biases the valves. A solenoid moves the transfer tube to close the first valve port and open the second valve port. A return spring moves the transfer tube to close the second valve port and open the first valve port, allowing fluid communication between the first and second connection ports. A first seal, having an effective area approximately equal to the area of the first valve port, is attached to the transfer tube to seal the return spring. A second seal, having an effective area approximately equal to the area of the second valve port, is attached to the transfer tube to seal the solenoid.

In the suspension control apparatus of the present invention utilizing a PWM type proportional solenoid valve, in which a current in a form such that a dithering current is superimposed on a target current is applied to a solenoid, when the average intensity of the applied current falls outside a predetermined range, a ratio between a time period during which the PWM signal having a decrease duty ratio is applied and a time period during which the PWM signal having an increase duty ratio is applied is changed so that an amplitude of the dithering current can be maintained at a predetermined level. Therefore, an undesirable increase in hysteresis with respect to a damping force can be suppressed, to thereby ensure good reponsivity for controlling a damping force, regardless of the average intensity of the applied current.
Abstract:
A latching, dynamically balanced, fluid control valve. The valve includes a housing which has a supply port, a cylinder port and a return port. Fluid communication between the supply port and the cylinder port is controlled by a first valve that opens and closes a against first valve seat of the housing. Fluid communication between the supply port and the return port is controlled by a second valve that opens and closes against a second valve seat. The valves are connected to a transfer tube that is coupled to a pair of solenoids. The solenoids can be actuated to move the tube and valves between a first position, which allows fluid communication between the supply port and the cylinder port, and a second position that allows fluid communication between the supply port and the return port. The solenoids are actuated by short digital pulses that latch the transfer tube and valves into either the first or second position. Each solenoid is sealed by a seal that has an effective area which is approximately equal to the area of the valve seats. Each seal is located oppositely from a valve seat so that opposing fluid pressures are applied to the seal and the seat washer. The opposing pressures create a net force on the transfer tube that is approximately zero.
Abstract:
A solenoid valve with a ferromagnetic flux frame which, in assembly, locates and retains the components of the solenoid valve without an exterior housing. Preferably, the solenoid valve has an electric coil disposed on a tubular coil bobbin, a plunger received within the bobbin and first and second bodies each having at least one passage with the passages selectively communicated with each other by the plunger. The flux frame preferably has two complementary halves which when mated together interconnect the first and second bodies at opposed ends of the flux frame to retain and locate the parts of the solenoid valve without an overmolded or exterior housing. Preferably, the halves of the flux frame are mated with a snap-fit to facilitate assembly of the solenoid valve.
