摘要: Apparatus and methods for holding the position of a watercraft stationary. An exemplary method includes measuring a velocity of an auxiliary water vessel relative to the watercraft with a first sensor, where the auxiliary water vessel is deployed at a depth between the watercraft and a ground surface of the body of water. The method further includes measuring a velocity of current in the body of water relative to the watercraft with a second sensor. The method further includes processing the velocity measurement of the auxiliary water vessel and the velocity measurement of the current to determine a net movement of the watercraft, and controlling a propulsion system to compensate for the net movement of the watercraft to hold the watercraft in a stationary position.

摘要: The present invention relates to a system for reducing load and frequency variations in the power distribution of a dynamically positioned vessel. The system comprising a consumer load control being connected to at least one power generator and at least one thruster, the consumer load control being adapted to monitor the available power in the system, from said at least one power generator and, the power consumption from said at least one thruster as well as other power consumers in the system. The system also comprises a dynamic positioning (DP) unit monitoring the position of the vessel calculating the required thruster capacity for maintaining a predetermined position, wherein the DP unit is adapted to define an acceptable window for variations in said position relative to the predetermined position, and said consumer load control is adapted to adjust the power provided to said thruster in order to reduce total load variations depending on the available power and to the position of the vessel relative to said window.

摘要: A vessel is provided that is an improvement over previously disclosed jack-up rigs and lift boats. The vessel has at least three thrusters and is self-propelled. The vessel additionally has a raised and hollow crane support on which a crane may be mounted. The crane support is preferably affixed to tracks, which permit the crane to slide along the deck of the vessel. The raised and hollowed feature of the crane support permits the storage of equipment and things beneath the crane support without hindering the movement of the crane along the tracks. Optionally, the vessel further has an extension assembly atop which may be deployed a workover rig assembly. The crane may be used to assemble the extension assembly and thus aid in the construction, remediation, and demolition of offshore oil and gas platforms and wells.

摘要: A drilling ship is maintained over a deep sea well in a drilling position defined by an inner circle and an outer circle having the well as their center. The ship is connected to a set of anchors fastened to the sea bed and adapted, when the ship is subjected to the action of external forces tending to change its position and of not more than a predetermined magnitude, to restrain the ship from moving beyond the confines of the inner circle. The ship is equipped with a set of adjustable propellers adapted, in conjunction with the anchors, to position the ship within the confines of the outer circle when the external forces acting on the ship to change its position exceed the predetermined magnitude. The operation of the propellers is controlled by a computer to which values are fed which are determined by detectors of the position of the ship and of external forces acting upon it.

摘要: The relative horizontal positions of a floating marine platform and the lower end of a flexible connecting line, such as a cable, drill string, or well bore riser, suspended from the platform are determined by generating angle signals representing the instantaneous vertical slope angles of the connecting line at or near its upper and lower ends, filtering these signals to remove higher order frequencies resulting from variable forcing functions, such as surface wave induced motion of the platform, which produce no net change in the platform position, whereby the filtered angle signals represent the mean terminal slope angles of the envelope of the undulating connecting line, and combining these filtered angle signals in accordance with a predetermined position equation which compensates for phase lag between the sensor measured and true positions of the platform due to the transit time of platform motion induced stress waves or undulations along the connecting line to the lower angle sensor. The invention is described in the context of positioning a floating oil well drilling or producing platform relative to an ocean floor well head.
