Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to solve the difficulty of entering e-mail addresses. To enter an e-mail address, the e-mail address is formed by entering a partial e-mail address with an input section and selecting a desired partial e-mail address with a selection section from a plurality of partial e-mail addresses stored in a storage section while observing a display section. Consequently, it is not necessary to enter the entire e-mail address by handwith the input section, so that this troublesome task can be eliminated.
Abstract:
A page is automatically created and transmitted in response to data defining set of images. The data define an image showing a form that has been marked; the data also include information indicating an image destination. The page includes a segment that is a version of an image from the marked form. The page can be another form, a cover sheet, or an error sheet, for example. The segment can be a reduced version of the marked form, such as on an error sheet. Or the segment can be a version of the contents of a field in the marked form, such as on a form, a cover sheet, or a listing sheet. The field can be a cover note field, and if the processor determines that the cover note field has been marked, it can automatically create a cover sheet that includes a segment that is a version of an image of the cover note field. The field can be an identifier field. The processor can create a form with a request field that includes a segment that is a version of an image of the identifier field, identifying an item in relation to which an operation can be requested, such as the recipient of facsimile transmission or a document being facsimile transmitted; or the processor can create a cover sheet with a segment that is a version of an image of the identifier field; or the processor can create a listing sheet in which each item's entry includes a segment that is a version of an image of the item's identifier field. The image destination can be indicated by a check mark in a recipient field, by check marks indicating the telephone number of a fax machine, or by data from a transmitting fax machine indicating the fax machine's telephone number.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method enable any user of a digital copier to store and retrieve customized images of a relatively small size, such as, for example, logos or letterheads, for incorporation into larger document images. Customized logo images can be input using the copier RIS and stored for future use, or can be input from an external use such as, for example, a personal computer. Full size document images and logo images can be either merged or overwritten. The logo image storage capacity is increased over prior art systems through the use of an electronic memory card, a data storage disk, and/or a personal computer, either individually or in combination.
Abstract:
Storage, manipulation, and retrieval of files, for example data representations of scanned documents, is facilitated by establishing a relationship between an arbitrary, image domain file label and a computer recognizable text domain file name for the file. Selection of the arbitrary, image domain file label is interpreted as a selection of the related file. The arbitrary, image domain file name is assigned by way of a paper form or the like, and may be assigned at the time of document storage. The arbitrary, image domain file label facilitates the meaningful naming of a file for storage when a keyboard or other typical text entry apparatus is unavailable, such as when inputting a document for storage by way of a facsimile machine. Character recognition is not performed on the arbitrary, image domain file label, so the burden on the processing resource is minimized, while errors from inaccuracy are eliminated. Selection of a file for processing by way of its arbitrary, image domain file label may be by appropriate indication on either a screen display or a printed form.
Abstract:
A document handling system comprises physical presentation means for receiving, presenting, and removing a document with respect to the system. Furthermore, it is provided with scanning means for the document and printing means for printing on an unprinted sheet a document that contains a form. The form contains a plurality of physically sparse format calibrating items at a perimeter of the form, directly machine-readable form identifier dam in a prescribed identifier field, and form content data including user completable indicia boxes proper to the form so identified. The form can be used for generating a facsimile sheet inclusive of standard facsimile header, for generating a standard document for general use, or for allowing a user to input amending data for inclusion into a later to be printed user specifiable document.
Abstract:
A computer system is described that includes a capability to receive and store graphic images from remote facsimile machines. The system includes a software that can convert graphic images of textual material into an ASCII coded file so that either keywords or the coverted text may be converted to speech giving the addressee-user the ability to review incoming facsimiles from a remote telephone. The system includes a relay capability, the capability to print on command and to originate facsimiles either from text files or scanned papers.
Abstract:
A system and method for customized multifunction peripherals includes a document processing controller including a processor and a memory, a scanner, a scanner engine, a printer, a user input and a display. The memory stores electronic customization groups, each corresponding to a unique business type. Each electronic customization group includes electronic files, such as forms, applications, screen backgrounds, company logos, screen positioning information, and labels. The memory also stores device customization data sets, each corresponding to document processing in the multifunction peripheral. Indicia on the display identify each of the customization groups by business type, and the user input receives a selection of a selected customization group. A customizations menu on the display lists available customizations from the selected customization group. A document processing options menu on the display includes document processing options corresponding to a portion of the device customization data sets associated with the selected customization group.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for tracing the source of a printed document. A method may include receiving a print job for printing a page having page content, generating a log of the print job, encoding the log using a mule image to produce a data-bearing halftone image, merging the data-bearing halftone image with the page content, and printing the merged data-bearing halftone image and page content to produce a printed document.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus including an operation panel has, as a configuration of the operation panel, a display portion including a function to display environmental label information of the image forming apparatus. The environmental label information includes information on a type of greenhouse effect gases (CO2) and a total emission amount of the greenhouse effect gases in a life cycle of the image forming apparatus. On the display portion, there is provided a selective display portion for displaying an environmental label as list display or thumbnail display, as well as selectively displaying detailed information of the environmental label according to the environmental label.
Abstract:
The image forming apparatus of the present invention includes an image forming main device which has a control section. The control section (a) obtains, from an external device via a communication device, option information indicative of an at least one optional device and eco-information indicative of an amount of greenhouse-gas emitted due to the at least one optional device, (b) controls a display device to display the option information and the eco-information, and (c) sends, to the external device via the communication device, an order for an optional device selected by a user via the input device out of the at least one optional device indicated by the option information displayed on the display device.
