    摘要: A method and an apparatus for securing media independent handover message transportation are provided. The method for securing media independent handover message transportation, include: performing an authentication procedure by a terminal with an access router to generate a master session key; transmitting the generated master session key and address information of the terminal to an information server by the access router; generating an information server key to be used in transmitting and receiving a message by the information server with the terminal using the received master session key and the address information of the terminal; and forming a secure channel by the terminal and the information server using the generated information server key. Since a key formed at a layer 2 is used in an MIH authentication step being a layer 3 not to repeatedly create a secure key, a security procedure may be rapidly performed.

    摘要: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may include a media application that receives data from a media server via a link on a downlink (DL) -only radio access network. The link on the DL-only radio access network may be handed over to a second DL-only radio access network. A mobility management server, such as a Media Independent Handover (MIH) server, may communicate with the WTRU via a second radio access network that is a bidirectional radio access network to facilitate the handover. MIH messages may include fields that relate to DL-only radio access technologies may be used to facilitate handover of a DL-only link. Further, MIH broadcast or multicast messages may be used to facilitate the handover of a DL-only link.

Preferably, the present invention performs a scan of a neighboring network different from a current network of the mobile terminal to determine the presence of an accessible link of the neighboring network for performing a handover, wherein the mobile terminal comprises a heterogeneous network handover module that is configured to provide convergence of information from at least one network interface module associated with one of a homogeneous and heterogeneous network into a unified presentation. An information message is then received from the neighboring network, wherein the information message comprises an information element associated with whether the neighboring network is capable of communicating with the heterogeneous network handover module of the mobile terminal.
