摘要: A rotary internal combustion engine of symmetrically balanced construction. The engine includes a stator having a circular chamber provided with a pair of diametrically-opposed combustion cavities having igniters therein. Concentrically mounted within the stator is a rotor having at least one pair of lobes. The stator chamber is effectively divided into two distinct sections by means of gas-separating vanes which are disposed at diametrically-opposed positions along an axis at right angles to the common axis of the combustion cavities, the gas-separating vanes continuously engaging the surface of the rotor. Associated with each vane is an exhaust port through which spent gases are forced out by a lobe advancing toward the vane, and an air-gas intake port through which a fuel mixture is admitted for compression by a lobe moving away from the vane.

摘要: In a supercharging system for Diesel rotary-piston engines comprising a turbosupercharger and a volumetric supercharger, means are provided for drawing air downstream of the volumetric supercharger and utilizing this tapped air in an air pump also receiving the air having passed through the engine radiator, a needle valve responsive to the supercharging pressure controlling the delivery of drawn air into the neck of a convergent divergent section of said pump, this drawn air being also adapted to be injected into the exhaust pipe of the turbine of said turbosupercharger which receives the exhaust gas from the engine, said exhaust pipe being connected in turn to the interior of another pump mounted in the radiator cooling air duct, a needle valve being inserted in the pipe delivering the air derived downstream of said volumetric supercharger, in order to improve the efficiency of the system by reducing the counter-pressure upstream of the exhaust turbine while improving the drawn air output and therefore the air-pump throughput and the engine radiator cooling air output, said needle valve being responsive to this end to a spring-loaded bellows responsive in turn to the supercharging pressure.

摘要: A split-cycle internal combustion engine includes a variable displacement compressor having two or more cylinders, an adjustment mechanism for varying the displacement volume of the compressor and possibly the phase between the compressor and the motor, and a rotary motor having two or more expansion chambers. A passage valve system located between the compressor and the motor transfers working fluid and combustion exhaust products, and, in addition, mechanically and thermally isolates the compressor from the high pressures and temperatures present in the motor.

The engine may have an expansion ratio with a value of at most 8. The rotary engine may be part of a compound engine system.
