Abstract: A method for providing scratch-off lottery tickets for sale remote from a POS location in a retail establishment includes configuring the tickets with a game play area having play characters covered by a scratch-off coating. A print characteristic is provided in the game play area that is optically scannable but not reproducible when photocopying the game play area. In a database, identification of the printed characteristic is linked to a computer file associated with the lottery ticket at a central lottery computer. An optically scannable random identifier is also provided in the game play area and is linked to the computer file. Upon presentation of the lottery ticket for purchase, the ticket or a scanned image of the ticket is analyzed to verify that the print characteristic is present in the game play area. The scanned image of the ticket is analyzed to verify that the random identifier assigned to the lottery ticket is present in the game play area of the scanned image.

Abstract: A concentric CRR sensor is claimed that is used as a form of currency verification in order to combat counterfeiting currency. The system comprises applying sets of concentric CRR printed with transparent conductive ink. In one embodiment, using the CRR as a passive RFID tag, changing the ring's radii, inner or outer, and in turn, created more encryption, and thereby prevents currency counterfeiting. In one or more embodiments, the serial number of the currency bill is used as a guideline to a selection algorithm to determine the size of the radii.

A content level security code is received by the first computer system and through the second network. A first validation operation is performed by the first computer system. The performance is based on the document level security code. The first computer system determines the document is an altered document. The determination is based on the performance of the first validation operation. A second validation operation is executed on the altered document. The second validation operation is executed by the first computer system and in response to the determination. An alteration status of the document is detected by the first computer and based on the second validation operation.

Abstract: An identification device of the present invention determines authenticity of an article with an anti-counterfeiting medium varying in a pattern of observed light depending on changes in light characteristics of radiated light, using the anti-counterfeiting medium. The identification device includes a similarity calculation unit that determines the degrees of similarity between a plurality of captured image data of the anti-counterfeiting medium obtained with differences in the light characteristics of the radiated light and reference image data corresponding to the light characteristics; and an authenticity determination unit that determines whether the degrees of similarity determined for the individual light characteristics exceed thresholds set corresponding to the individual light characteristics to make an authenticity determination on whether the anti-counterfeiting medium is genuine.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a resin composition which can be detected both by X-ray radiation and by fluorescence or phosphorescence, and a molded article obtained from the resin composition. The present invention provides a resin composition containing a light-emitting substance and a radiopaque substance; in which the light-emitting substance is a near-infrared fluorescent material or a phosphorescent material. a radiopaque substance of the resin composition is any one of barium sulfate, bismuth oxide, bismuth subcarbonate, calcium carbonate, aluminum hydroxide, tungsten, zinc oxide, zirconium oxide, zirconium, titanium, platinum, bismuth subnitrate, and bismuth. A molded article can be obtained by processing any one of the resin compositions described above.

Abstract: An improved system and method for reading an upconversion response from nanoparticle inks is provided. A is adapted to direct a near-infrared excitation wavelength at a readable indicia, resulting in a near-infrared emission wavelength created by the upconverting nanoparticle inks. A short pass filter may filter the near-infrared excitation wavelength. A camera is in operable communication with the short pass filter and receives the near-infrared emission wavelength of the readable indicia. The system may further include an integrated circuit adapted to receive the near-infrared emission wavelength from the camera and generate a corresponding signal. A readable application may be in operable communication with the integrated circuit. The readable application receives the corresponding signal, manipulates the signal, decodes the signal into an output, and displays and/or stores the output.
