Abstract:
A connector for an electrical box having a base that has an opening. A cavity is formed by a wall extending from the base. The cavity is aligned with the opening to form a passageway through the connector to receive electrical cable. At least two fingers extend inwardly and toward the base from an inner surface of the wall. At least two tabs extend outwardly and toward the base from an outer surface of the wall to retain the junction box between the at least two tabs and the base.

A module for containing a circuit is provided that attenuates emitted signals without the use of a cover. The module includes a housing and a receptacle. The housing has a front having a certain thickness and the receptacle is accessible from the front of the housing. The receptacle is shaped to receive a circuit component and forms a waveguide.
Abstract:
Moisture-resistant flange structures and side assemblies are for an outdoor electrical enclosure adapted to be mounted in an opening, for example, in the wall of a building. The moisture-resistant flange structures include flange elements disposed on side members of the outdoor electrical enclosure without having an aperture extending through the flange element and not having a passageway extending between the flange element and the side member into the opening. The moisture-resistant side assemblies include at least one adjustable generally L-shaped flange element coupled to the first and second side members by fasteners extending through elongated apertures in the adjustable flange elements. Extensions coupled to the side members overlap a portion of each side member and a portion of at least one of the at least one generally L-shaped adjustable flange elements and the elongated aperture extending therethrough.
Abstract:
The current invention provides a optical MEM device and system with an angled lid for hermetically sealing an active MEMS structure. The lid is sealed through an asymmetric seal formed with sealing rings having an asymmetric distribution of solder wetting surfaces which tilts the lid, when the lid and a substrate are soldered together. The asymmetric distribution wetting surfaces can be provided by forming one or more edge features, by patterning portions of the sealing rings or both. Preferably, the lid is transparent to one or more wavelengths of light in a range of 300 to 3000 Angstroms and hermetically seals a grating light valve structure having a plurality of movable ribbon for modulating light through the lid.
Abstract:
A hermetic terminal assembly including a body member with a bottom portion and a surrounding boundary or flange portion with at least one current conducting pin sealed in an opening in the bottom portion and an over-surface stratum disposed in said body member in close proximity facing relation with said bottom and boundary portions, and having stratum holding material therefor.
Abstract:
A package for a semiconductor device includes multiple layers which are fused together to encapsulate the device in a package which has a size approaching the size of the unpackaged device. The compact package facilitates heat transfer from the device, thus making it particularly advantageous for high power applications. Electrical contacts with the device are provided as contact pads on the surface of the package. Primary materials used in construction of the package include glass and ceramics, although other materials such as resins and epoxy could also be used. The multiple layers comprising the package are welded or fused together without having any adhesive, solder, etc. between the layers. Thus, the assembly of the package is an efficient one step process wherein electrical and thermal contacts with the electronic device are made simultaneously with the sealing operation.
Abstract:
A low pressure gas electrode utilizing ionized gas in a glow discharge regime forms a transparent electrode for electro-optical switches. The transparent electrode comprises a low pressure gas region on both sides of the crystal. When the gas is ionized, e.g., by a glow discharge in the low pressure gas, the plasma formed is a good conductor. The gas electrode acts as a highly uniform conducting electrode. Since the plasma is transparent to a high energy laser beam passing through the crystal, the electrode is a transparent electrode. A crystal exposed from two sides to such a plasma can be charged up uniformly to any desired voltage. The plasma can be created either by the main high voltage pulser used to charge up the crystal or by auxiliary discharges or external sources of ionization. A typical configuration utilizes 10 torr argon in the discharge region adjacent to each crystal face.
Abstract:
A weatherproof back box for receiving a fire alarm notification or other fire alarm device includes a back wall and sidewalls that project from the back wall and define a mouth. The sidewalls further include recessed portions that extend from the back wall toward the mouth, and end prior to the mouth. The back box further includes mounting posts, which are preferably less than 50% of the depth of the back box, that project from the recessed portions into the mouth. Additionally, these mounting posts receive fasteners for securing the fire alarm notification device in the mouth of the back box.
Abstract:
An electrical assembly having a support, a mounting member and an electrical device attached to the mounting member and the support. The mounting member is a one piece integrally formed unit having an interior cavity for receiving electrical wires from the power source and supplying the electrical wires to the electrical device. The mounting member has a coupling at a first end of the mounting member with internal threads having an annular recess receiving a seal member for forming a weatherproof seal with the support while allowing limited rotational adjustment of the mounting member with the support and maintaining the weatherproof seal. The mounting member has a second end with a coupling having external threads complementing the internal threads of the first coupling to enable a plurality of the mounting members to be coupled together and forming a weatherproof connection between the adjacent mounting members.
