摘要: A positive displacement gear rotor fuel pump with a plurality of spaced apart outlet ports through which fuel is discharged from a fuel pumping assembly and a valve which prevents any fuel downstream of the outlet ports which is at outlet pressure, from reentering portions of the pumping assembly which are at a lower pressure to prevent the higher pressure fuel from rapidly compressing and collapsing the fuel vapor in the pumping assembly to greatly reduce the noise of the operating fuel pump. This reduces the magnitude of the cavitation noise in the fuel pump which is the noise caused by the collapsing of the fuel vapor in the pump. The outlet ports are also constructed and arranged to prevent adjacent pumping chambers of the pumping assembly from communicating with each other to prevent the fuel at an increased pressure in a downstream pumping chamber from flowing into a lower pressure pumping chamber upstream thereof to also reduce cavitation noise in the fuel pump.

摘要: A tandem pump apparatus is featured having a main suction passage connected to a fluid source. The main suction passage branches into first and second suction passages which, in turn, feed into first and second pumps. Each pump discharges a portion of the fluid to a return passage that is fluidly connected to the suction port of each respective pump. In each return passage, a return control valve is disposed to control the amount of fluid returned to the suction port. The tandem pump featured in this invention exhibits increased efficiency and decreased noise.

摘要: A self-contained brushless electric-motor fuel pump for internal combustion engine fuel delivery systems and like applications in accordance with the present invention comprises a housing having a fuel inlet and fuel outlet, and a brushless electric motor with a permanent magnet armature mounted for rotation within the housing and stator windings surrounding the armature within the housing. A pump mechanism is positioned between the fuel inlet and outlet, and is coupled to the armature for corotation with the armature within the housing to pump fuel under pressure from the inlet to the outlet. A pressure sensor is operatively coupled to the fuel outlet within the housing for providing an electrical pressure signal as a function of fuel pressure at the outlet. Pump motor control electronics within the housing includes circuitry for comparing the pressure signal from the pressure sensor to a pump drive reference signal, and providing an error signal as a function of a difference therebetween. Drive current is applied to the stator windings of the motor as a function of such error signal.

摘要: A screw pump of the kind including a screw array consisting of a central screw (1) with convex flanks and one or more side screws (2) with concave flanks, the threads being formed such that coacting screws seal against each other with the screw array being sealingly surrounded by a screw housing (3), so that at least one closed chamber is formed by the sides and roots of the threads as well as the screw housing, the chamber migrating axially from the inlet end of the screw array to its outlet end when the screws are turned, and is in communication at least during a portion of its migration with a pressure fluid source (9) via at least one duct (14) made in the pump. To prevent the occurrence of, and to eliminate, existing air and gas bubbles in the liquid chamber without efficiency being unnecessarily deteriorated, the pump is provided with a regulating device (15) coacting with the duct for adjusting the quantity of liquid flowing to the chamber from the pressure fluid source.

摘要: A pump includes a rotor, a cam encircling said rotor and means for effecting relative rotation of the cam and rotor about an axis. A plurality of vanes are carried by the rotor and engage the cam to define pumping pockets which expand and contract on rotation of the rotor. A cheek plate is movable along the rotational axis to communicate expanding and contracting pumping pockets. There is a cavity on one side of the cheek plate, and a fluid passage conducts fluid pressure into the cavity which fluid pressure biases the cheek plate into a position blocking the flow of fluid from the contracting pumping pockets to the expanding pumping pockets. The pump also includes a servo valve for venting the pressure in the cavity to thereby control the flow of fluid between the contracting and expanding pumping pockets. A fluid passage in the cheek plate receives flow from the contracting pockets. The passage has a portion directing flow from the contracting pumping pockets radially inwardly of the cheek plate. A tubular member is fixedly attached to the cheek plate coaxially with the axis of relative rotation of the rotor, and the interior of the tubular member communicates with the portion of the fluid passage directing flow radially inwardly.

摘要: There is disclosed a control system for a hydraulic down-hole earth drilling motor of the helical gear pair type to control the pressure drop of the fluid through the motor so that it does not become excessive. A housing is provided defining a chamber, one end of the housing being secured to the outer member housing of the motor. Valve means and pressure controlling means are positioned in the chamber. Linkage means positioned within the chamber joins the valve means pressure controlling means and the upper end of the inner member of the motor. In operation the inner member of the motor may be caused to operate the valve means to control the fluid flow and therefore the pressure drop through the motor in order to protect the motor from overload. A further embodiment of the invention corrects an additional problem in down-hole motors resulting from the back flow when the drilling is stopped for any reason.
