    Abstract: A planographic printing plate formed of a support having sequentially disposed thereon a first layer, that is structured by a heat-insulating material having a low thermal conductivity, and that is made hydrophilic by being processed with one of an alkali and a silicate in an alkali developing solution after exposure; and a second layer whose alkali developability is changed, without ablation, by being irradiated with an infrared ray. Alternatively, a support that is structured by a heat-insulating material whose thermal conductivity is low, and in which a surface thereof is made hydrophilic by being processed with one of an alkali and a silicate in an alkali developing solution after exposure, may also be used as the support.

    Abstract: A negative-type image recording material comprising a support having a rear surface and an image recording layer disposed on the support, the image recording layer having a front surface and including (A) a radical-generating agent and (B) a radically polymerizable compound, wherein a static friction coefficient between the front surface and the rear surface is less than 0.50.     Abstract: Provided is a lithographic printing plate comprising a support substrate having disposed thereon an ablative-absorbing layer and, optionally, a durable, ink-accepting surface layer that is not ablative-absorbing. The ablative-absorbing layer may contain a high weight percent of an organic sulfonic acid component. The printing plate may further comprise a hydrophilic polymeric layer interposed between the ablative-absorbing layer and the substrate. The printing plate also comprises a primer layer underlying the ablative-absorbing layer with an adhesion-promoting agent, such as a zirconium compound, present in the primer layer. Also provided are methods of preparing such lithographic printing plates, and methods of preparing imaged lithographic printing plates from such lithographic printing plates by imagewise exposure to a laser and a subsequent cleaning step with water or with a cleaning solution.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a presensitized plate, having intermediate and photosensitive layers sequentially provided on a support for a lithographic printing plate, which is provided by subjecting an aluminum plate to graining, alkali etching and anodizing treatments. The amount of alkali etching is set in a range of 0.5 to 4 g/m2 for the alkali etching treatment, and an average thickness of thinnest 10% of the photosensitive layer on convex portions of a surface of the support is set in a range of 0.2 to 2 nullm. This presensitized plate has wide development latitude, makes it difficult for scratch-like non-image portions to be generated, and facilitates handling in usual operation.
