Abstract: An aseptic closure system for attaching to a container including an upper section and a lower section that are removably attached to one another. Each section includes a valve housing with a rotary valve mounted in a bore extending through the valve housing. The upper section has an inlet port and an outlet port, each with a conduit providing fluid communication through the port to an interior of the upper valve housing. The lower section is adapted to mount to a container. The lower valve housing includes two conduits that permit fluid communication through the lower valve housing to an interior of the lower section. The rotation of the rotary valves closes off flow through the conduits in the respective housings.

Abstract: A coupler for aseptically coupling and controlling fluid communication between at least two components. The coupler includes a first connector housing with an inner concave surface. A first connector extends from the top of the first connector housing and is adapted to connect to a first component. A first connector conduit extends through the first connector and into the first connector housing so as to define a fluid passageway to an inner opening on the inner surface of the first connector housing. A rotary valve is located within an inner cavity of the first connector housing and includes at least two rotary valve segments. The rotary valve segments are configured to rotate within the cavity. At least one of the rotary valve segments includes a fluid conduit extending through the at least one rotary valve segment.

Abstract: A pump features a trimmed impeller having a trimmed impeller diameter that is less than a standard full-sized diameter of a standard full-sized impeller for a standard full-sized casing, and having a circumferential outer edge; and a modified standard full-sized casing having dimensions corresponding to the standard full-sized casing and configured to house the trimmed impeller for pumping a fluid, having an outer peripheral wall, and having an inner annular volute portion between the circumferential outer edge of the trimmed impeller and the outer peripheral wall configured with a volume of material deposited using an additive manufacturing process so as to fill in vacant space otherwise caused by the trimmed impeller diameter being less than the standard full-sized impeller diameter. The additive manufacturing process is a directed energy deposition.

Abstract: An adjustable volume sampling system is disclosed for aseptically retrieving a sample volume of a fluid from an origination container. The system includes a sampling container. A cap is removably attached to the sampling container so as to close off the open top. The cap includes two ports. A first tube is attached to one of the ports. An elongated diptube extends through port into the sampling container and an upper end of the diptube is located inside a portion of the first tube. The diptube can be raised and lowered relative to the sampling container by pinching an stretching the first tube. Syringes are provided for expelling excess material from the sampling container.

Abstract: A balance or flow limiting valve features a valve body/member having a flow rate indicator/scale containing setting having printed flow rates calibrated in units of measure in volume per time increment between a minimum flow rate position (MIN) and a maximum flow rate position (MAX); and a knob/handle having a position indicator and being moveable to any continuous position on the flow rate indicator/scale between MIN and MAX in response to a user applied force, where the relationship between the flow rate indicator/scale and the position indicator is based on calibrated flow characteristics of the balance or flow limiting valve. The user can set an exact desired flow rate in one operation by moving the knob/handle to a desired position between MIN and MAX without consulting a printed flow curve or balance calculator to determine the desired exact flow rate.

Abstract: A pumping system featuring a pump, motor, a bearing assembly, integrated data acquisition system and combined programmable logic controller (PLC), data acquisition and modem. The pump couples to a pump shaft that responds to a pump shaft force to pump a liquid. The motor couples to the pump shaft, responds to VFD/VSD control signaling and provides the pump shaft force to drive the pump shaft. The bearing assembly includes a bearing with the pump shaft arranged therein and couples the pump and the motor. The variable frequency/speed drive (VFD/VSD) receives PLC control signaling and provides the VFD/VSD control signaling to drive the motor. The integrated data acquisition system responds to PLC data acquisition signaling, and provides integrated data acquisition system signaling containing information about an integrated set of pumping system parameters related to the pump, the bearing assembly, the motor and the VFD/VSD in the pump system. The combined programmable logic controller (PLC), data acquisition and modem provides the PLC data acquisition signaling and receive the integrated data acquisition signaling, provides PLC data acquisition modem signaling that exports performance data to the Internet to allow remote manual monitoring of the pump system, and provides the PLC control signaling to control the VFD/VSD and operate the pumping system as a controlled, closed loop system.
