Abstract:
Styrene-free unsaturated polyester resin compositions are provided which contain low amounts of hazardous air pollutants, good mechanical and physical properties and good weathering characteristics. A process for the manufacture of these resin compositions is also provided.
Abstract:
Pressure-sensitive adhesive articles with a backing that provides secure but reversible adhesion to the pressure-sensitive face of the article when the article is wound upon itself to form a roll. Such “non-stick” backings include a non-woven fabric carrying a binder, such as polychloroprene, butadiene-styrene copolymer or butadiene-styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer, that provides a soft and conformable layer that readily releases from an overlying adhesive layer of the article when the rolled article is unwound.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for sterilizing a lumen device. A lumen and a container having an interface on a wall of the container are enclosed in a chamber. The lumen is placed across the interface so that one end of the lumen is in the container and the other end is in the chamber. Germicide is introduced into the chamber, and a pressure difference is created between the two ends of the lumen, so that the germicide flows through the lumen. The lumen may alternatively be placed across an interface which separates the chamber into two areas. Germicide is introduced into the chamber, and a pressure difference is created between the two areas of the chamber, causing the germicide to flow through the lumen.
Abstract:
In one aspect, a method for DNA mutation detection including the steps of PCR amplification using preferably Pho DNA polymerase, hybridization, and analysis by denaturing high performance liquid chromatography (DHPLC), the method preferably utilizing a PCR buffer and other solutions that are compatible with DHPLC analysis. In other aspects, compositions and kits including a proofreading DNA polymerase, preferably Pho DNA polymerase, and a DHPLC compatible PCR buffer are provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a compound of formula I wherein (i) when a and c are double bonds, R2 is absent, b is a single bond, R1 is or (ii) when a and c are single bonds, b is a double bond, and R1 is H, R2 is wherein the substituents are as defined in the specification.
Abstract:
A transportable power wheelchair is provided which employs a variety of detachable modules to facilitate transportation and storage. The wheelchair may be readily disassembled/reassembled by a single individual without assistance and/or the need for special tools. The wheelchair includes a power supply unit, a pair of primary drive wheels, and a drive train subassembly mounting and independently driving each at least one of the drive wheels. First and second main frame subassemblies preferably have mounted thereon one of the drive train subassemblies. The power supply unit is also detachably mounted therebetween. At least one cross member assembly connects the main frame subassemblies. The cross member assembly, in combination with the main frame subassemblies, define the main frame assembly. A seat is also detachably mounted to the main frame assembly by means of the cross members.
Abstract:
A sip straw includes an outer tubular member and an inner tubular member. The outer tubular member is formed of a spirally wound paper wrapper which is wound onto the outer surface of the inner tubular member. The inner tubular member is formed of an edible substance such as chocolate, which imparts a flavor to a fluid being drawn through the inner tubular member by a user.
Abstract:
A vacuum cleaner (100) comprises a main body (3), separating apparatus, a flexible hose (20) having one end for coupling to an input of the separating apparatus and the other end terminating in a connecting part (40), a rigid pipe (9, 10) being selectively connectable to the main body (3) (see FIG. 2A) so as to provide a handle for the cleaner when connected to the main body (3), or a wand when released from the main body (3). The pipe (9) has an opening at each of first and second ends (16, 17) and a gripping portion (11) at the first end (17) for allowing a user to grasp the pipe (9). The hose connecting part (40) is connectable to the opening at either end (16, 17) of the pipe (9). Thus, the pipe (9) can be more conveniently used during a cylinder mode of cleaning.
