Abstract: Described is an apparatus of an Evolved Node-B (eNB). The apparatus may comprise a first circuitry and a second circuitry. Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to improved channel quality information feedback techniques. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus for a base station is provided that includes a radio interface and a processor coupled to the radio interface. The processor is configured to receive a channel quality indicator (CQI) index, wherein the CQI index is based on a channel state information (CSI) reference resource, further wherein a first three orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols of the CSI reference resource are occupied by control signals, select a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) based on the CQI index, and cause transmission of the PDSCH based on the selected MCS via the radio interface. The baseband processor comprises one or more processors to make a determination whether a first set of RS (Reference Signal) APs (Antenna Ports) are QCL-ed (Quasi Co-Located) with a second set of RS APs with respect to one or more large-scale channel properties and to select a set of receiving parameters for the second set of RS APs based on the one or more spatial receiver parameters. The one or more large-scale channel properties comprise one or more spatial receiver parameters. The first set of RS APs are distinct from the second set of RS APs.

One example embodiment that can be employed at a UE (User Equipment) comprises processing circuitry configured to: select a set of receive beamforming weights for a DL (Downlink) control channel; and decode one or more control channel sets from a common search space of the DL control channel, wherein each control channel set of the one or more control channel sets is mapped to an associated symbol of one or more symbols of a slot, wherein each control channel set of the one or more control channel sets has an associated transmit beamforming, and wherein each control channel set of the one or more control channel sets comprises a common set of control information.
