    Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for generating chronological event information. The technique involves receiving event data comprising a plurality of events, where each event is associated with a different position in a video stream. The technique further involves determining that a current playhead position in the video stream corresponds to a first position associated with a first event, and, in response, causing the first event to be displayed in an event list as a current event, causing a second event to be displayed in the event list as a previous event, where the second event is associated with a second position in the video stream that is before the first position, and causing a third event to be displayed in the event list as a next event, where the third event is associated with a third position in the video stream that is after the first position.

    Abstract: In one embodiment of the present invention, a hybrid subsystem orchestrates animated transitions between stereoscopic imaging and non-stereoscopic imaging. In operation, the hybrid subsystem receives frames that represent a three-dimensional object over time. The hybrid subsystem renders the first frame based on a left eye position and then re-renders the first frame based a right eye position. The left eye position and the right eye position are separated by a predetermined distance that is optimized for stereoscopic viewing. As part of rendering and re-rendering subsequent frames, the hybrid subsystem gradually deceases the distance between the left eye position and the right eye position. Upon receiving a final frame in the transition, the hybrid subsystem renders once—to a single eye position. Advantageously, because the rendered three-dimensional object image gradually loses depth throughout the animated transition, the hybrid subsystem minimizes disruptions to the viewing experience.

    Abstract: Information regarding application usage on an actor device may be provided through activity notifications and activity reports. An activity notification describing current application activity on an actor device is sent, via wireless connection, to an observer device which displays the activity notification. Activity notifications provide different granularity levels of information based on a received level selection or based on a distance (proximity) between the actor device and the observer device. An activity report representing the history of application usage on an actor device may be displayed on the actor device. For example, the activity report may be triggered to by displayed when the actor device is placed flat. The activity report provides a graphical representation of the application usage on the actor device for a predetermined time period of prior usage. The graphical representation may comprise a plurality of stripes, each stripe representing a particular application or application type.

    Abstract: A proximity-aware multi-touch tabletop is disclosed that includes both a touch screen display and proximity sensors. The proximity sensors are disposed in one or more annular groups around the touch screen display and are positioned in upward- and outward-facing directions. The proximity sensors allow the multi-touch tabletop to sense the distance of a body, arm, hand, or fingers of a user from the multi-touch tabletop. Thus, hand, arm, and finger positions of a user can be determined relative to the body position of the user, which enables the multi-touch tabletop to differentiate between left hand/arm gestures and right hand/arm gestures. Further, because the multi-touch tabletop can correlate left arm and right arm movements to a user body, the multi-touch tabletop can differentiate gestures originating from different users. The ability of the multi-touch tabletop to distinguish between users greatly enhances user experiences, particularly in a multi-user environment.

    Abstract: A feedback mechanism that reports software issues between users of software applications and the developers of the software applications. The feedback mechanism generates feedback logs that capture moments of user frustration at the moment a user encounters issues with using a particular software application executing on a client device. The feedback mechanism is triggered to generate a feedback log by the user via a predetermined set of user inputs. Once generated, the feedback log captures an associated importance level, a user description, and/or context information (such as application and command activity information) for the particular software application and one or more other software applications that interacted with the particular software application executing on the client device. The feedback log can also capture multimedia content such as audio, images, and videos. The feedback log is then transmitted to a server of a developer of the particular software application.
