    Abstract: A passive lubrication system, for a gear drive system of a drive system, for powering an electric vehicle, includes an oil network, an oil sump region, an oil paddle, and an oil diverter. The oil network is defined by and disposed within, at least, a fixed annular region of the gear drive system and a planetary gear system. The oil sump region is configured to provide oil for distribution about the oil network. The oil paddle is operatively coupled with the planetary gear system, configured to rotate with a component of the planetary gear system, and during rotation, configured to course oil, from the oil sump region. The oil diverter is positioned concentric with the oil paddle and radially outward of the oil paddle and configured to receive oil from an oil source, upon rotation of the oil paddle, and direct the received oil to the oil network.

    Abstract: An axle disconnect assembly for translating rotational torque between an output shaft and an axle shaft of a vehicle driveline; including: disconnect housing and a clutch supported therein. The clutch is disposed in selective torque translating relationship between the output shaft and the axle shaft, and is movable between: an engaged configuration wherein torque is translated between the output shaft and the axle shaft; and a disengaged configuration wherein torque is interrupted between the shafts. An electromagnetic actuator is provide and has a slider selectively movable between a first stable position and a second stable position. The actuator is disposed in force translating relationship with the clutch such that movement from one stable position to the other stable position causes corresponding movement of the clutch between the configurations so as to selectively translate rotational torque between the output shaft and the axle shaft.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a transfer case (16) lubrication system (42) that includes a housing (44) defining a chamber and having a lower portion (58). A partition (46) extends from the lower portion (58) and is disposed in the chamber so as to define a reservoir for oil, adjacent to the partition (46) and spaced from the chamber. First and second sprocket (50)s are supported in the chamber, with the first sprocket (48) being spaced from the reservoir. The system also includes a pump assembly (52) having an oil pump (78), a pickup (80) in fluid communication with the pump and at least partially disposed in the reservoir, and a spray bar (82) in fluid communication with the pump for directing oil from the reservoir to a predetermined location within the chamber. A chain (54) connects the sprockets and is spaced from the partition (46) so as to generate a windage force for transferring oil from the chamber to the reservoir in operation.
