    Abstract: A method for reducing latency during handover of user equipment (UE) between wireless base stations includes (a) receiving, at a network hub in an edge communication network, a first wireless signaling message from a source wireless base station, (b) determining, from the first wireless signaling message at the network hub, occurrence of a handover of UE from the source wireless base station to a target wireless base station, (c) in response to determining occurrence of the handover, translating, at the network hub, an address of first data packets intended for the UE from an address of the source wireless base station to an address of the target wireless base station, and (d) forwarding the first data packets from the network hub to the target wireless base station.

The wireless communications network includes at least one cooperative device and at least one non-cooperative device. The method includes the steps of monitoring, by the at least one cooperative device, a selected channel of a shared spectrum of the wireless communication network, detecting, by the at least one cooperative device, a presence of a transmission from the non-cooperative device within a measurable vicinity of the cooperative device, and responding, by the at least one cooperative device, to the detected presence of the transmission from the non-cooperative device.

    Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for reducing latency in wireless service through a communication link comprising a virtual Modem Termination System (vMTS) and a modem. The communication link is coupled with a virtualized wireless link. In one embodiment, a method includes transferring a buffer status report (BSR) from a user equipment (UE) through the communication link to a control portion of the virtualized wireless link, generating a wireless grant to allow the data of the UE through virtualized wireless link, and generating a backhaul grant for the UE to transfer data through the communication link based on the wireless grant information.
