Abstract: Methods and apparatus for supporting prioritized transmission opportunity (TXOP) sharing in wireless communications systems, e.g., various 802.11 wireless communications systems, are described. A wireless station may be allocated a transmission opportunity. A shared transmission type of trigger frame is implemented, which allows the wireless station, acting as a host station, to make available transmission resources, which have been acquired by the wireless station, to one or more guest stations. A trigger based (TB) frame, corresponding to the transmitted shared transmission type trigger frame, is used by the host station and one or more guest stations to transmit data to an access point. An access point transmits priority information, e.g., in management frames, to control the use of shared resources in TB frames corresponding to shared transmission type trigger frames. The priority information identifies which particular stations are authorized to be a guest station corresponding to a particular transmission opportunity.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for physical cell identification within one or more wireless networks. In one embodiment, conflicts in PCI values which may exist within two or more mobile networks (e.g., PLMNs) of respective different operators when unlicensed spectrum is utilized (e.g., according to 3GPP 5G NR-U technology) are resolved. In one implementation, this functionality is provided by specifying one or more mobility-related parameters associated with various UE, such that serving gNBs can determine whether a given UE requires a mobility context, and as such whether it should conduct subsequent RF measurement reporting to report back potential conflicts in PCI it may encounter to the gNB. In one variant, the measurement reporting is configured to comply with 5G NR-U required “listen-before-talk” or LBT protocols; i.e., to measure parameters consistent with the LBT protocols to detect any such PCI-based conflicts.

Abstract: Radio Link Control ACK/NACK is conditionally suppressed. A first wireless communications device including a radio transmitter identifies a first packet flow for which end to end packet retransmission is supported. The first wireless communications device identifies a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) packet corresponding to Radio Link Control Acknowledged Mode (RLC AM), said identified packet being included in the identified first packet flow. The first wireless communications device generates an Acknowledged Mode Protocol Data Unit (AM PDU) including a No RLC ACK Required (NRAR) indicator set to indicate RLC ACK is not required, and the radio transmitter in the first wireless communications device transmits the AM PDU, e.g., an AMD PDU, to a second wireless communications device. The second wireless communications device receives the transmitted AM PDU, recovers the NRAR indicator value, and based on the communicated value of the NRAR indicator, determines to suppress RLC ACK/NACK.

Abstract: A first communications device including a transmitter identifies a packet flow for which end to end packet retransmission is supported. The first wireless communications device transmits an explicit indication in a downlink message to a second wireless communications device, to skip Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) feedback for data, corresponding to the first packet flow, said data being directed to the second wireless communications device. In some embodiments, said explicit indication to skip Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) feedback for data is a predetermined value in a predetermined field of a downlink control information (DCI) scheduling message. In some embodiments, the predetermined field is a PDSCH-to-HARQ feedback timing indicator field. HARQ suppression is applied for the first packet flow at a radio link layer and/or MAC layer, e.g., by the second communications device in response to the predetermined value indicating HARQ suppression being recovered from the predetermined field.

Abstract: A first communications device including a transmitter, such as a base station or UE, identifies a first packet flow for which end to end packet retransmission is supported. The first communications device assigns said first packet flow to a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) process which does not require generation of acknowledgements (ACKs) or negative acknowledgements (NAKs) from a device receiving data corresponding to said first packet flow; and transmits data corresponding to said first packet flow to a second communications device. In some embodiments, the HARQ process to which the first packet flow is assigned is a dedicated HARQ suppression process. In some embodiments, the HARQ process to which the first packet flow is assigned is a HARQ process which has been temporarily designated as a HARQ suppression process. HARQ suppression is applied for the first packet flow at a radio link layer and/or MAC layer.

Abstract: Efficient paging in a communications system including macro and small cell base stations is described. A macro cell base station receives, from a network node, a request to page a UE and determines a set of base stations including one or more small cell base stations, which are to attempt to page the UE. The macro cell base station communicates the paging request to the selected one or more small cell base stations. A small cell base station, using unlicensed spectrum, may fail in its paging attempt due to current unavailability of the unlicensed spectrum (LBT fails to clear) resulting in no paging signal transmitted; the reason for failure is communicated from the small cell base station to the macro cell base station via a paging response message. The macro cell base station in turn communicates a paging response message to the network node communicating the reason for failure.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for interworking a user device in one or more wireless networks. In one embodiment, the apparatus and methods provide enhanced wireless services which enable operation of a given user device (e.g., a mobile 3GPP-compliant UE) within two or more mobile networks (e.g., PLMNs), such as a macro network and micro network. In one implementation, the UE contains multiple SIM cards to enable connection to different networks simultaneously. Accordingly, the UE can roam between two different networks seamlessly, regardless of whether the operators of each are independent or the same operator. Enhanced network capability as described herein advantageously allows for interworking between the macro and micro (e.g., small-cell) layers of the system without complicated network configuration requirements between the two operating networks as required under the prior art.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for using a QUIC connection established between a user equipment (UE) and a Trusted Non-3GPP Gateway Function (TNGF) to support trusted non-3GPP access which facilitates Access Traffic Steering, Switching, and Splitting (ATSSS) are described. An exemplary TGNF, implements Multiplexed Application Substrate over QUIC Encryption (MASQUE) over QUIC. In some embodiments, QUIC connection IDs are used to delineate control plane (CP) traffic and user plane traffic being communicated over the established QUIC connection. In other embodiments, a new 3GPP Payload type header is used to delineate between control plane (CP) traffic and user plane traffic communicated over the established QUIC connection.
