A polyester film having low electrostatic and high adhesion properties and having formed on at least one side thereof a primer layer which has a softening point of 100.degree. to 170.degree. C. and essentially consists of (1) water-dispersible polyester resin containing, as a copolymer component, a sulfonic acid metal salt group-containing compound in an amount of 0.01 mol % or more and less than 0.5 mol % of the whole dicarboxylic acid compound (component A) and (2) polyethylene oxide-monoalkyl ether or a mixture of the same and a polyethylene oxide-polypropylene oxide block copolymer (component B). This adherent polyester film has low electrostatic properties and high heat resistance and is useful as a base film for a magnetic recording medium.

A clean transfer method and an apparatus therefor capable of facilitating storage and transfer of transferred objects by a vacuum clean box and realizing transfer of the objects to various processing units other than a vacuum unit. A vacuum clean box and a clean unit are airtightly connected to each other. The vacuum clean box includes a first shutter acting also as a lid and arranged so as to airtightly close a first opening of the box. The clean unit is provided with a second opening selectively closed by a second shutter. Airtight connection between the vacuum clean box and the clean unit is carried out while keeping the first and second openings closed by the first and second shutters, respectively, to thereby form a closed space therebetween which the first and second shutters face. Then, the closed space is evacuated to a vacuum, followed by opening of only the first shutter. Subsequently, a clean atmosphere which is substantially identical with a clean atmosphere in the clean unit is formed in the closed space and the second shutter is opened to introduce the first and second shutters into the clean unit.

A scanner having an image sensor unit having a CCD linear array for electro-optically scanning an image of an original in a main scanning direction to convert the image into image data signals is used to scan, through a table sheet having a transparent document area and a pattern area which includes a stripe pattern inclined with respect to the main scanning direction, an original placed under the document area to read data of the original, and the scanner is moved relative to the original in a subscanning direction perpendicular to the main scanning direction. A pattern signal obtained by scanning the pattern area then is analyzed to detect an amount of relative movement of the scanner in the subscanning direction from the movement of the stripe pattern in the main scanning direction. Accordingly, the reading resolution in the subscanning direction which varies depending upon a high or low degree of the speed of relative movement of the scanner in the subscanning direction can be maintained suitably by adjustment of the speed of movement, or the reading speed can be raised for a predetermined resolution.

There are disclosed polyprenyl sulfone derivatives of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein n represents an integer of 1-4, R.sub.1 represents an aryl group d R.sub.2 represents a hydroxymethyl or carboxyl group. The polyprenyl sulfone derivatives are prepared by cultivating a microorganism of the genus Nocardia capable of oxidizing a compound of the general formula: ##STR2## wherein n and R.sub.1 have the same meanings as defined above, in a culture medium containing a compound of the above general formula (II), and then collecting the oxidation product from the culture mixture. The polyprenyl sulfone derivatives are useful as intermediates for preparing various useful polyprenyl compounds.

The compounds in which X stands for the methylene exhibit durable anti-histamic activity with low toxicity, and are useful for therapeutic purposes, while the compounds in which X stands for the carbonyl bridge are easily convertible by reduction into the former compounds.

To provide a method for producing an oyster meat essence that more amply incorporates an antioxidant substance with high ORAC value as follows. A portion of an oyster meat extract more amply incorporating an antioxidant substance with high ORAC value is selected. An extraction method that allows incorporating further large amount of antioxidant substance with high ORAC value is employed. The beneficial oyster meat extract can be efficiently extracted in large amounts.ObjectAn oyster meat is stored in an extraction container where water is accumulated. An oyster meat essence is extracted to generate an extract liquid. The extract liquid is injected to a centrifuge, and concurrently the centrifuge is rotated at a centrifugal acceleration where an antioxidant substance with high antioxidative potency and ORAC value is separated and removed from the extract liquid. The antioxidant substance with higher antioxidative potency and ORAC value is separated. Thus, the oyster meat essence incorporating a large amount of antioxidant substance with high antioxidative potency and ORAC value is obtained.
