摘要: A portable apparatus and method for demonstrating different characteristics of different fluids that includes different fluid sumps or chambers for receiving samples of the different fluids. A test shaft having different portions that are immersed in the different fluid samples in the chambers is driven by an electric drive motor at a substantially constant speed while substantially the same amount of friction or force is applied to the different portions of the test shaft at different times to increase the resistance presented to the drive motor. The additional amount of current drawn or power absorbed by the motor or strain induced in the motor drive shaft during the application of such friction or force to the different portions of the test shaft is monitored and compared to provide a comparison of the friction or power loss characteristics of the different fluid samples.

摘要: A method and system are provided for on demand selective rerouting of logical circuit data in a data network. Upon a failed logical circuit being identified in the data network, one or more alternative or logical failover circuits for rerouting data from the identified failed logical circuit is displayed in a menu on a display device. A selection of a logical failover circuit is made using a graphical user interface (GUI). Once the selection of the logical failover circuit is received, the data from the failed logical circuit is rerouted to the selected logical failover circuit. Upon receiving the selection of the logical failover circuit from the menu, a determination may be made as to whether a utilization percentage indicate of congestion in the selected logical failover circuit exceeds a predetermined threshold. If the utilization is less than the threshold, then the method logical circuit data is rerouted from the failed logical circuit to the selected logical failover circuit. If the utilization rate exceeds the threshold, then an alert is generated and the selection of an alternative logical failover circuit from the menu is requested.

摘要: A method and system are provided for provisioning logical circuits for intermittent use in a data network. A customer order requesting the use of a logical circuit for communicating data for a predetermined time period is received in the data network. A logical circuit is then provisioned in the data network prior to the start of the predetermined time period for communicating the customer data. Once the predetermined time period has elapsed, the provisioned logical circuit is deleted from the data network.

摘要: A method and system are provided for automatically rerouting data from an overbalanced logical circuit in a data network. Status information is received for a logical circuit communicating data in the data network. The status information may include a forward explicit congestion notification (“FECN”) and a backward explicit congestion notification (“BECN”) indicating an overbalanced condition in the logical circuit. An overbalanced condition is indicative of network congestion in the logical circuit. A logical failover circuit including an alternate communication path for communicating the data in the overbalanced logical circuit is then identified. The data in the overbalanced logical circuit is rerouted to the logical failover circuit without manual intervention. After rerouting the data to the logical failover circuit, a determination is made as to whether the overbalanced condition in the logical circuit has been cleared. If it is determined that the overbalanced condition in the logical circuit has been cleared, then the data from the logical failover circuit is rerouted to the logical circuit in the data network without manual intervention.

摘要: A method and system are provided for automatically rerouting logical circuit data in a data network. A failure is identified in a logical circuit in a data network. The logical circuit may include a communication path for communicating data. Once the failure in the logical circuit is determined, a logical failover circuit is then identified. The logical failover circuit includes an alternate communication path for communicating the data for the failed logical circuit. After the logical failover circuit has been identified, the data from the failed logical circuit is rerouted to the logical failover circuit without manual intervention. After the data has been rerouted the logical failover circuit, a determination is made as to whether the failure in the logical circuit has been corrected. If it is determined that the failure in the logical circuit has been corrected, then the data from the logical failover circuit is rerouted back to the logical circuit in the data network without manual intervention.

摘要: Methods and apparatuses are provided for an electrical device that employs a feedthrough including a hermetic seal that seals an interior region of the electrical device. The electrical device includes an electrical contact disposed within the interior region of the electrical device, and a wire terminal that includes an encircled portion that is encircled by the feedthrough, and a first end that electrically connects with said electrical contact. When the electrical device is constructed, the first end of the wire terminal is coated with a conductive metal that is more resistant to oxidation than the wire terminal. The first end of the wire terminal is secured to the electrical contact using a mechanical device such as a crimping connector or a spring connector.

摘要: A semiconductor device (10) includes a photoresist layer (20) for patterning features on the semiconductor device (10) during manufacturing. After the photoresist layer (20) is deposited, the semiconductor device (10) is exposed to fluorine using a fluorination module (126). In one embodiment, the fluorine is applied via a plasma in the fluorination module (126). In other embodiments, the fluorine may be applied in other gaseous or liquid forms. Fluorinating the photoresist layer (20) functions to prevent slimming of the features when dimensions of the features are measured using a scanning electron microscope (SEM).

摘要: A field electron emission material comprises an electrically conductive substrate and, disposed thereon, electrically conductive particles embedded in, formed in, or coated by a layer of inorganic electrically insulating material. A first thickness material is defined between the particle and the environment in which the material is disposed. The dimension of each particle between the first and second thicknesses is significantly greater than each thickness. Upon application of a sufficient electric field, each thickness provides a conducting channel, to afford electron emission from the particles By use of an inorganic insulating material, surprisingly good stability and performance have been obtained. The particles can be relatively small, such that the electron emitting material can be applied to the substrate quite cheaply by a variety of methods, including printing. The material can be used in a variety of devices, including display and illuminating devices.
