Abstract: A method of wirelessly charging batteries of devices includes detecting at least two devices being simultaneously present on a charging mat. It is determined, for each of the at least two devices, whether the device is compatible with a wireless charging standard. It is determined, for each of the two devices, whether the device is enabled for a near field communication. Charging of the devices is prevented if at least one of the devices is enabled for a near field communication but not compatible with the wireless charging standard.

Abstract: Apparatus, system and method to provide switchable coils in a computing device, comprising: a plurality of electrically conductive coils to transfer electromagnetic energy; a sensor coupled to a processor, to select a coil from among the plurality of electrically conductive coils; a switch to energize the selected coil; and a switch controller coupled to the switch and to the processor. In some embodiments, the plurality of coils may comprise an inductive charging interface. Some embodiments may further include a communication interface between the processor to the plurality of electrically conductive coils, the plurality of coils comprising an interface for near-field communications (NFC). The antenna coils may be arranged to provide improved NFC coverage when the computing device is in a respective predetermined physical configuration. Sensors may be used to detect the configuration and switch NFC communications to use a preferred antenna coil for the detected configuration.

Abstract: A garment includes a passive human body communication (HBC) component that includes, for example, a storage element. The garment has conductive cuffs and a flexible conductive trace connecting the cuffs to the HBC component. When a user wearing the garment touches the electrodes of an HBC interface on an external host device, the host device powers the HBC component and may send or receive data from the HBC component. The power and the data travel over the user's body from the interface electrodes to the cuffs, and at least partially through the conductive trace from the cuffs to the HBC component.

Abstract: In a method for enabling devices to communicate securely, a first device dynamically generates a human body nonce (HBN) and then sends that HBN to a second device via a human body communication conduit (HBCC). After sending the HBN from the first device to the second device, the first device uses the HBN to establish security for an over-the-air (OTA) communication session between the first device and the second device. For instance, the first device may derive a key, based at least in part on the HBN, and the first device may use the key to encrypt communications to be sent OTA between the first device and the second device. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
