Abstract:
The present invention relates to cosmetic applicators comprising absorbent sheets impregnated with a mixture of emollients, absorbent particles, fragrances and deodorizing agents which are useful for moisturizing and deodorizing wetted or sweaty skin surfaces, and are especially useful for foot deodorizing and moisturizing.
Abstract:
A locking bar for use with sliding doors such as patio doors or the like, and permitting the sliding door to be securely locked either in a fully-closed position or in an ajar position. The locking bar includes a pair of telescoping members that are adjustably interconnected to have either a greater or a lesser length. One of the telescoping members selectably attaches to a keeper on the sliding door, and is nonremovably retained in the keeper whenever the shorter length is selected so that the door may be ajar, or optionally when the door is locked in the fully-closed position.
Abstract:
The knee pivot or hinge shaft of the artificial limb connecting the upper limb portion and the lower portion is located forward of the center line of gravity in the prosthesis whereby the arc of the foot of the limb is shortened as the foot moves rearwardly from a straightened position of the limb. The knee joint is provided with a locking mechanism which is actuated to lock the upper limb portion to the lower limb portion either by downward pressure applied to the upper limb portion as the artificial limb rests on a support surface or by pressure applied to the heel portion of the foot as it engages a support surface. The actuating lever of the locking mechanism pivots about a first fulcrum to actuate the locking mechanism as pressure is initially applied to the heel of the foot during the amputees stride and, as the weight of the amputee is transferred from the heel to the ball or toe portion of the foot, the actuating lever pivots about a second fulcrum. The locking mechanism remains in the actuated or locked condition as the lock actuating lever moves from one fulcrum to the other.
Abstract:
A system for providing thermal insulation for portions of a spacecraft which do not exceed 900.degree. F. (756.degree. K.) during ascent or reentry relative to the earth's atmosphere. The thermal insulation is formed of relatively large flexible sheets of needled Nomex felt having a flexible waterproof coating. The thickness of the felt is sized to protect against projected temperatures and is attached to the structure by a resin adhesive. Vent holes in the sheets allow ventilation while maintaining waterproofing. The system is heat treated to provide thermal stability.
Abstract:
A panel body portion can be attached to a wall or to the inside of a kitchen cabinet door. The panel body portion can include a rear compartment for loose paper bags and the like defined by marginal flanges which cause the panel body portion to stand off from the supporting door or wall. Two way adjustable holders for dispensing packages of various sizes and types are mounted on the panel body portion at a plurality of elevations. Packages for foil, plastic wrap, wax paper and various types of bags are accommodated by the invention. Each holder embodies end holder units whose spacing may be varied longitudinally of the package and whose width may also be varied to accommodate packages of varying widths.
Abstract:
Alternating current track circuits are provided for the several adjoining track sections of a stretch of railway track, each of the track circuits comprising an alternating current code transmitter and an alternating current code receiver connected to track rails at opposite ends of the associated section. Circuit apparatus including an alternating current line circuit extending along the stretch of railway track is provided for normally communicating alternating current from the line circuit through rails of the associated track sections, the alternating current being modulated at a selected rate code and current in any two adjoining track sections being of opposite instantaneous polarity for broken down joint protection. Phase sensing apparatus is provided at a receiving end of each track section including a comparator for comparing the rate code modulated alternating current communicated through the track rails with a steady reference source connected to the line circuit. A system including a flip-flop circuit and a low pass filter is provided for energizing a track relay only in response to a distinctive output of the comparator indicative of proper phase relationship of the current in the associated track section.
Abstract:
A rotating ball valve assembly includes a rotatable ball element. The rotatable ball element includes a first side portion, a second side portion, and a central passage. One of the first and second side portions includes first and second outwardly projecting pin elements. A sliding sleeve assembly includes a sliding sleeve member having a first guide track with a first force reducing profile associated with the first outwardly projecting pin element and a second guide track having a second force reducing profile associated with the second outwardly projecting pin element. The sliding sleeve member is shiftable relative to the first and second tubular members to selectively pivot the rotatable ball element between an open orientation and a closed orientation.
Abstract:
An electro-hydraulic actuator includes a housing having an interior portion a first opening and a second opening, a transducer is arranged in the interior portion. The transducer includes a sensor operatively coupled to a signal source at the first opening. A selectively activatable valve component is arranged at the second opening. The selectively activatable valve component maintains a desired pressure in the interior portion of the housing. An actuator is operatively coupled to the transducer and operable to activate the selectively activatable valve component exposing the interior portion to a volume of fluid in response to a signal from the transducer to activate a downhole system.
