Abstract:
A ball ratchet mechanism suitable for use with an electrical disconnect employs a track and drive surface that engage the ball so as to capture it without significant shear force being applied to ridges of the track. In this way, the shape of the track can be optimized for smooth ratcheting action without the risk of high torques shearing track ridges.
Abstract:
A wireless digital communication system includes a base station in communication with a plurality of user equipment mobile terminals (UEs). The system prioritizes the forwarding of blocks of downlink data to designated ones of the UEs. The system employs adaptive modulation and coding (AM&C) to achieve improved radio resource utilization and provides optimum data rates for user services. Blocks of downlink (DL) data are received by the base station which requests downlink (DL) channel quality measurements only from those mobile terminals (UEs) with pending downlink transmissions. The UEs respond to the request by measuring and reporting DL channel quality to the base station, which then allocates resources such that the UEs will make best use of radio resources. The base station notifies the UEs of the physical channel allocation indicating the modulation/coding rate and allocated slots followed by transmission of blocks of downlink data which are transmitted to the UEs.
Abstract:
A substance analyzer utilizing Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis for identifying characteristics of a substance and method of manufacturing the same are disclosed. The analyzer is small enough to be portable and to allow its use in many applications where current analyzers cannot be utilized. The analyzer uses a neutron radiation source and a gamma-ray detector to activate the sample material and detect the prompt gamma rays emitted by the sample material. A novel housing for such an analyzer and method for making the housing are also described. Novel methods of operating such an analyzer including via a communications network are also disclosed. Also disclosed are data analysis methods that improve the accuracy and sensitivity of the results of such material analysis.
Abstract:
The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for discovering, qualifying, and activating software add-in components. An add-in components manager discovers one or more add-in components at the computer system are of a specified type of add-in component requested by an application. The add-in component manager qualifies at least one discovered add-in component based on the at least one discovered add-in component satisfying one or more qualification constraints. The one or more qualification constraints are representative of functionality that is to be associated with an add-in component for the add-in component to interoperate with the application in a desired manner. The add-in component manager activates a qualified add-in component in accordance with the one or more qualification constraints for use with the application.
Abstract:
A plastic container including a hollow body of plastic material having a lower supporting base, a sidewall extending upwardly from the lower base, and an upper neck portion with an opening therein, said neck portion extending upwardly from the sidewall, a handle at least in part adjacent the neck portion and preferably an integral handle, and a webbed portion adjacent the neck portion.
Abstract:
A blow molded plastic container including a top and bottom portion and side portions which interconnect the top and bottom portions. A pouring spout on one side of the top portion in the form of a first upward projection, and a second upward projection on the opposed side of the top portion. A handle on the side portion opposed to the pouring spout, and spaced depressions in the bottom portion which nest into the upward projections to form a nested assembly of containers.
Abstract:
An X-ray imaging system is provided. The X-ray imaging system includes a distributed X-ray source and a detector. The distributed X-ray source is configured to emit X-rays from a plurality of emission points arranged as a substantially linear segment, a substantially arcuate segment, a curvilinear segment, or a substantially non-planar surface and the detector is configured to generate a plurality of signals in response to X-rays incident upon the detector.
Abstract:
A vehicle engine cooling system includes a primary cooling circuit having a primary radiator and a coolant pump. A secondary cooling circuit includes a secondary radiator, an EGR cooler, and a liquid/air charge air pre-cooler receiving engine inlet air from a turbocharger compressor. The coolant pump circulates coolant through the EGR cooler, through the charge air pre-cooler, and through the primary and secondary radiators. A fan blows cooling air through the primary and secondary radiators. The secondary radiator is downstream of the primary radiator in the fan airflow. The cooling system also includes an air-to-air charge air cooler which receives engine inlet air from the liquid/air charge air pre-cooler. The air-to-air charge air cooler is upstream of the primary radiator with respect to flow of cooling air. The cooling system also includes an auxiliary engine fluid cooler which is located between the air-to-air charge air cooler and the primary radiator.
Abstract:
A system for determining selections that a user is likely to be interested in. The determination is made based on the user's prior indicated preferences. The user designates his or her preferred selections as entries in a user's preference list. Entries in the user's list are compared with entries in the other users' lists. When a significant number of matches have been found between two lists, the unmatched entries of the other user's preference list are extracted. The unmatched entries are further processed. Those unmatched entries with a high correlation to the user's preference list are presented to the user as selections in which the user is likely to be interested.
Abstract:
This invention relates to the use of ADNF polypeptides in the treatment of neurotoxicity induced by chemical agents or by disease processes. The ADNF polypeptides include ADNF I and ADNF III (also referred to as ADNP) polypeptides, analogs, subsequences such as NAP and SAL, and D-amino acid versions (either wholly D-amino acid peptides or mixed D- and L-amino acid peptides), and combinations thereof which contain their respective active core sites.
