    摘要: A magneto-optical memory element has a multi-layer construction in the order from a side first receiving light from a light-source which includes a first transparent dielectric film, a rare earth transition metal alloy film, a second transparent dielectric film and a reflective film. The magneto-optical device uses circular dichroism effect of a magnetic mater for reading information. The rare earth transition metal alloy film has a refractive index represented by n.+-..DELTA.n wherein n=3.2-3.55i and .DELTA.n=0.05-0.03i. The thickness of film is about 18 to 46 nm. The second transparent dielectric film has a refractive index of 2.0.+-.0.2 and a film thickness of 80 to 108 nm.

    摘要: A magneto-optical recording medium includes a first magnetic layer, a second magnetic layer and a third magnetic layer respectively made of rare-earth-transition metal alloys which are laminated in this order. The first magnetic layer has a perpendicular magnetization in a temperature range between room temperature and its Curie temperature. The second magnetic layer made of GdFeCo is set such that its Curie temperature is higher than the Curie temperature of the first magnetic layer, coercive force thereof at room temperature is nearly zero, and that it has an in-plane magnetization at room temperature and a transition occurs therein from the in-plane magnetization to the perpendicular magnetization at above a predetermined temperature. The third magnetic layer is set such that it has a perpendicular magnetization in a temperature range of room temperature and its Curie temperature, its Curie temperature is higher than the Curie temperature of the first magnetic layer, and coercive force thereof at room temperature is smaller than the coercive force of the first magnetic layer.

    摘要: A magneto-optical disk is provided with a recording layer that exhibits perpendicular magnetization, an intermediate layer wherein in-plane magnetization occurs at room temperature and a transition from the in-plane magnetization to perpendicular magnetization occurs as the temperature thereof rises, and an auxiliary layer that is made of a rare-earth-transition-metal alloy and that exhibits perpendicular magnetization, and these layers are laminated in this order. The composition of the rare-earth-transition-metal alloy is set so that the magnetic moment of the rare-earth metal is relatively greater than that of the transition metal at room temperature and the compensation temperature is located between room temperature and the Curie temperature T.sub.c3. A magneto-optical recording apparatus for rewriting information on the magneto-optical disk is provided with a single magnet for applying H.sub.w onto a portion on the magneto-optical disk irradiated by a light beam, as well as for applying H.sub.init having a greater intensity than H.sub.w onto a portion that is apart from the portion irradiated by the light beam. This arrangement makes it possible to achieve a more compact, thinner magneto-optical recording apparatus which allows light-modulation overwriting.

    摘要: A magneto-optic memory device, such as a magneto-optic disk or magneto-optic card having a pair of opposed substrates at least one of which is transparent. Between the substrates is a magneto-optic memory layer made of a stack of dielectric film, a rear earth-transition metal alloy thin film, a dielectric film and a light reflecting film built on the surface of the transparent substrate opposed to the other substrate. An adhesive layer covers the memory layer and bonds the transparent substrate to the other substrate. Lastly, a metal nitride film interposed between the light reflecting film of the memory layer and the adhesive layer.
