摘要: The invention relates to substantially single phase silicone copolycarbonates suitable for use in optical articles such as digital versatile disks. The silicone copolycarbonates contain residues of silicone containing and nonsilicone containing bisphenols and have properties particularly suited for use in high density optical data storage media. The invention further relates to the preparation and properties of substantially single phase silicone copolycarbonates having either a blocky or a random structure. The structure of the compositions of the invention is determined by the method of preparation used and may be used to control physical properties.

摘要: Copolycarbonates of enhanced crystallinity, suitable for solid state polymerization, are prepared by melt blending, under non-reactive conditions, an amorphous precursor polycarbonate such as a bisphenol A polycarbonate with one or more other monomers which may include a spiro(bis)indane bisphenol and/or a phenylindane bisphenol, optionally with a polyoxyalkylene glycol. The resulting blend is pelletized and the crystallinity of the resulting pellets is enhanced, typically by contact with an alkanol liquid or vapor.

摘要: An optical article for playback in a player includes a permanent player-readable code comprising a first set of a plurality of optically-detectable marks disposed on the optical article; a second set of plurality of optically-detectable marks disposed on a surface of the optical article; wherein the plurality of optically-detectable marks are in a pre-determined combination of a first state and a second state; and at least one first control logic comprising at least one sector; wherein each optically detectable mark is associated with a particular first control logic; wherein each first control logic is executed only when its associated optically-detectable mark is in a pre-determined state; wherein a customized player-readable code is determined using a combination of the plurality of optically-detectable marks and their associated first control logic; and wherein the optical article is activated when the customized player-readable code is in a pre-determined relationship with the permanent code.
