Abstract:
A thin-film magnetic head includes a lower core layer, a gap layer, an upper pole layer, and an upper core layer. At the joint between the upper pole layer and the upper core layer, the width of the upper core layer is larger than the width of the upper pole layer, and also the inner end of the upper core layer is located at the back of the inner end of the upper pole layer. Alternatively, a thin-film magnetic head includes a lower core layer, a recording core, an upper core layer, a coil, and a magnetic intermediate layer. The magnetic intermediate layer has a higher saturation flux density than that of the upper core layer. Methods for fabricating thin-film magnetic heads are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A thin-film magnetic head includes a first coil layer disposed at a lower core layer side of the interface between an upper core layer and an upper magnetic-pole layer, which are joined to each other, and a second coil layer disposed at the upper core layer side of the interface between the upper core layer and the upper magnetic-pole layer. The thickness of a coil conductor of the first coil layer is set smaller than the thickness of a coil conductor of the second coil layer.

In an air conditioner including an indoor heat exchanger and an indoor fan which are disposed in an indoor-side chamber, and an outdoor heat exchanger and an outdoor fan which are disposed in an outdoor-side chamber, the indoor-side chamber and the outdoor-side chamber being partitioned by a partition plate mounted on a bottom plate, the outdoor heat exchanger is disposed on said bottom plate, and the bottom plate is integrally formed with a dam member for damming up drain water flowing from at least one of the indoor heat exchanger and the outdoor heat exchanger. Further, a drain pan on which the indoor heat exchanger is mounted is disposed on the bottom plate, the partition plate is equipped with a drain opening through which drain water flowing from the indoor heat exchanger through the drain pan is flows to the bottom plate, and at least one of the drain pan and the partition plate is equipped with an intercepting member for intercepting flow of rain/wind from the outdoor-side chamber to the indoor-side chamber.
Abstract:
A track width regulating section having a track width, which is smaller than the resolution obtained by the wavelength of the light used for exposure and development of a resist, is formed between a lower core layer and an upper core layer. Since the width of the upper core layer is larger than the track width, magnetic saturation can be effectively reduced. Inclined faces are formed on the upper surface of the lower core layer so as to be inclined in directions away from the track width regulating section, thereby adequately preventing write fringing.
Abstract:
A thin film magnetic head includes an upper core layer and a lower core layer which are made of an Fe—M—O alloy, an Fe—M—T—O alloy or an NI—Fe—X alloy so that the upper core layer has a high saturation magnetic flux density, low coercive force and high resistivity, and the lower core layer has a lower saturation magnetic flux density than the upper core layer, low coercive force, high resistivity, and a low magnetostriction constant. Also the lower core layer is formed so that the thickness gradually decreases toward both side ends, and a gap layer can be formed on the lower core layer to have a uniform thickness. Since the lower core layer is formed by sputtering, a material having excellent soft magnetic material can be used, thereby enabling recording at high frequency.
Abstract:
A process for preparing a continuous optical compensatory sheet has the continuous steps of: coating a liquid of a resin for forming an orientation layer in a solvent on a surface of a moving continuous transparent film; drying the coated layer to form a transparent resin layer; subjecting the transparent resin layer to rubbing treatment to give an orientation layer; coating a coating liquid of a discotic compound in a solvent on the orientation layer to form a coated layer; drying the coated layer; heating the coated layer to form a discotic nematic phase, whereby a layer of discotic compound is formed; and winding up the transparent film.
Abstract:
A floor cleaner has driven rollers integrally mounted with a pair of rotating cleaning bodies on respective opposite end portions thereof, each of the rotating cleaning body being provided with a plurality of blades made of an elastic material, and wheels including a pair each of main wheels disposed at forward and rear portions of the casing and auxiliary wheels each of which is located at an intermediate position defined between the respective rotating bodies and main wheels. Each of the auxiliary wheels is positioned somewhat lower than the respective main wheels, i.e. they are collectively arranged in a seesaw-like condition. The main wheels and the auxiliary wheels are journaled to the casing in such a manner that both are swingable toward the front and the rear of the casing. Idle rollers are journaled to the casing between the respective main wheels and the respective driven rollers in a swingable manner. The auxiliary wheels are adapted to freely abut and to be movable away from both the forward and rear driven rollers, respectively, and the respective idle rollers are adapted to freely abut and to be movable away from both the forward or the rear main wheels and the forward or the rear driven rollers, respectively.

In a perpendicular magnetic recording head comprising a main magnetic pole layer and a return yoke layer which are laminated with a magnetic gap layer interposed therebetween, a nonmagnetic throat height determining layer and a return yoke reinforcement layer made of a magnetic material having a saturated magnetic flux density higher than that of the return yoke layer are provided on the magnetic gap layer. The nonmagnetic throat height determining layer has a front end face parallel to the medium-opposing surface at a position retracted by a desirable throat height from the medium-opposing surface. The return yoke reinforcement layer is formed directly under the return yoke layer so as to extend at least from the front end face of the nonmagnetic throat height determining layer to the upper face thereof, and is exposed at the medium-opposing surface between the magnetic gap layer and return yoke layer.
