摘要: A lithium-air battery includes a lithium negative electrode, a positive electrode including a catalyst containing gold, and a non-aqueous electrolyte interposed between the positive electrode and the lithium negative electrode. The catalyst includes gold supported on a cerium-containing oxide, such as a cerium-zirconium compound oxide or a cerium-aluminum compound oxide. The amount of catalyst of the positive electrode is in the range of 0.01 to 50 weight percent relative to the total weight of the positive electrode.

摘要: In a perpendicular magnetic recording head comprising a main magnetic pole layer and a return yoke layer which are laminated with a magnetic gap layer interposed therebetween, a nonmagnetic throat height determining layer and a return yoke reinforcement layer made of a magnetic material having a saturated magnetic flux density higher than that of the return yoke layer are provided on the magnetic gap layer. The nonmagnetic throat height determining layer has a front end face parallel to the medium-opposing surface at a position retracted by a desirable throat height from the medium-opposing surface. The return yoke reinforcement layer is formed directly under the return yoke layer so as to extend at least from the front end face of the nonmagnetic throat height determining layer to the upper face thereof, and is exposed at the medium-opposing surface between the magnetic gap layer and return yoke layer.

摘要: In an LED, when electric power is supplied to a blue light-emitting element through a pair of leads, light is emitted upward from an upper surface of the blue light-emitting element and, at the same time, light is radiated from side and lower surfaces of the blue light-emitting element so that a fluorescent substance is irradiated with the light. The latter light is reflected by a front surface of the fluorescent substance or by a concave reflecting mirror serving as a highly reflective material, so that the reflected light is radiated upward as excitation light (fluorescence) or as irradiation light. Because a radiating surface of a convex lens is formed above the concave reflecting mirror, the excitation light and irradiation light emitted thus are condensed by the convex lens and radiated externally with high external radiation efficiency.

摘要: A silicon nanosheet comprising a silicon atom layer formed by bonding two-dimensionally and periodically arranged silicon atoms to each other through an Si—Si bond. A nanosheet solution prepared by dispersing or suspending the silicon nanosheets in a solvent. A nanosheet-containing composite having the silicon nanosheets on the surface and/or in the interior of a substrate. A nanosheet aggregate formed by aggregating the silicon nanosheets. A process for producing a nanosheet solution comprising: an acid treatment step of bringing a layered silicon compound into contact with an aqueous acid solution to derive a siloxene compound; and an exfoliation step of adding the siloxene compound into a solvent containing a surfactant, shaking the mixture, and peeling off the siloxene compound.

摘要: An apparatus for ion recording using an apparatus for generating ions which can be operated by a low signal voltage. The corona ions are controlled either by imposing the low signal voltage which changes the voltage level of the corona ion generation section above and below the critical voltage for corona ion generation, or by controlling the flows of constantly generated corona ions using the low signal voltage which changes the relative voltage level of the corona ion generation section in order to turn the flows of corona ions on and off.
