摘要: Various methods and systems for detecting whether a network device supports a protocol, which defines a supplemental header, are disclosed. One method involves detecting a value within a preamble generated by a sending device and verifying that a header format of a header, also generated by the sending device, conforms to a header format definition of a protocol. The header format definition of the protocol defines a supplemental header. The preamble can be an Ethernet preamble. In one embodiment, the preamble is a converged data link (CDL) preamble or other type of preamble that is used to convey operation, administration and management (OAM) information.

摘要: A system and method for receiving hazard and event information in a mobile unit and using that information to warn a user of an event or future hazard with reference to the mobile unit's location and/or intended direction of travel is provided. A hazard location algorithm compares a forecast location of each mobile unit with a forecast hazard and transmits a warning to each mobile unit that is predicted to encounter the hazard. As the mobile unit moves, its actual position is updated in an event center, and a revised warning is transmitted to the mobile unit as applicable. Warnings include audio warnings for playback and/or visual warnings for display on the mobile device. Users may also wirelessly report events or hazards to a central server in an event center by sending data to the event center via a wireless communications network. Secondary information may be included, based on the selected event type.

摘要: Methods and systems for electronically tracking the progress of teams as they cover an assigned geographic area are described herein. A server computer establishes a coverage area, divides the coverage area into a plurality of regions, and assigns each region to a team. Each team carries a tracking device capable of autonomously determining its present location without user assistance, thus allowing the team to focus on the assigned task, such as searching for a missing person, plowing a field, paving a road, etc. The server monitors the location of each tracking device as each team covers its assigned region, and updates on a visually displayed geographic map a historical path associated with each tracking device based on the monitored location of each tracking device. In this manner, users can quickly view the visual depiction of the historical to determine as yet uncovered areas.

摘要: Methods and systems for normalizing flood warnings and potential flood levels across multiple river gauges by converting localized flood stage levels to a datum-based normalized value are disclosed. The normalized flood levels can then be used to plot flood levels from multiple river gauges on an inundation map. Methods and systems are also disclosed for creating animated inundation maps that illustrate flood levels geographically, and may include an indication of the certainty that flooding will reach one or more of the indicated flood levels through the use of multiple colors, shades, dithering, or the like.

摘要: A skid landing gear for a helicopter, in which the directional stiffnesses of the cross members of the skid landing gear have been de-coupled from one another, such that optimization of the longitudinal stiffniess of the cross members may be performed independently of the optimization of the vertical stiffniess and fatigue life of the cross members. In order to de-couple the stiffnesses in the skid type landing gear, two approaches are employed. In the first approach, the skid landing gear has non-symmetric-section cross members and/or distribution of different materials within the cross-section for de-coupling the vertical stiffness of the cross members from the longitudinal stiffness, such that placement of the ground resonance frequency may be optimized, while retaining the vertical stiffness properties essential for optimizing vertical energy attenuation and fatigue life. In the second approach, mounting devices are employed that provide compliance in selected directions, thereby de-coupling the directional stiffnesses.

摘要: A push button actuated latch used in reclining chairs wherein one part of the latch is mounted on the ottoman linkage and the complimentary part of the latch is mounted beneath the seat. When the ottoman is retracted beneath the seat as the chair moves to the upright position, the parts of the latch engage one another to retain the ottoman in the retracted position. When the push button is depressed, a cable attached between it and the latch releases the latch and allows the ottoman to extend and the chair to move to the reclined position.

摘要: Graphic data entry in an interactive graphic display system is achieved by means of an apparatus that provides automatic centering of a pointing laser beam on a hand held cursor. The graphic display system provides a means for displaying and comparing through superposition full size overlaid graphical data and projected graphical data on a common display screen. It includes a steerable pointing laser the beam of which scans the display screen in response to a laser beam deflection circuit. The system also includes laser beam position sensing and indicating circuits which accurately measure the laser beam position. Centering of the laser beam on the cursor at the display screen is accomplished by dithering the beam uniformly about its average position in a discrete dither pattern and utilizing the dither pattern to determine misalignment of the beam's average position with respect to the center of the cursor. The cursor includes photo detector elements that are geometrically configured to conform to the dither pattern so that signals derived from an eccentric relationship of the beam dither pattern and the photo detector element configuration can be processed to provide beam misalignment direction and magnitude error signals. These error signals drive a servo system that centers the average beam position on the cursor. The function of the cursor is to manually or automatically measure the coordinator of graphical features on the display screen.
