摘要: A land grid array connector (1) for electrically connecting a CPU package (3) to a printed circuit board comprises a housing (2) and a number of contacts (23) received in passageways (22) of the housing. The housing has a floor (20) and sidewalls (24,26). The floor and the sidewalls cooperatively define a receiving space for accommodating the package. Block member (269) is formed on inner side of the sidewalls of the housing for protecting inner surface of the sidewalls of the housing from scraping damage during insertion of the package into the housing and during extraction of the package from the housing. Reliable electrical connection between the package and contacts of the land grid array connector is secured.

摘要: An electrical connector (1) for connecting a land grid array (LGA) chip with a printed circuit board (PCB) includes a housing (10), and terminals (11) received in passageways (102) of the housing. The housing defines a base (100) and four sidewalls (12), the base and the sidewalls cooperatively defining a space therebetween for receiving the LGA chip. The base has a multiplicity of passageways along a length thereof, for receiving the corresponding terminals therein. Two adjacent sidewalls each define a resilient beam (13) with an incline surface and joining the sidewall at two ends. A space (15) is defined between the beam and the sidewall. When the LGA chip is placed on the base, the two resilient beams can resiliently act on the chip to ensure reliable engagement between the LGA chip and the connector.

Each passageway is bounded by two opposite first walls (1018), two opposite second walls (1019), and a bottom wall (1013). Each first wall defines a through slot (1011), and one of the second walls forms a slanted guiding portion (1012) spanning from the top surface to adjacent the bottom wall. The bottom wall forms a chamfer portion (1014). The guiding portion and the chamfer portion cooperate to protect the corresponding terminal and the base from damage when the terminal is inserted into the passageway.

摘要: An electrical connector includes an insulative housing defining a plurality of channels and each channel receives a contact (3) therein. The contact includes a base portion (12) having upper and lower edges (14, 13). Two support portions (22, 23) extend from the upper edge of the base portion and are spaced apart from each other. A pair of arms (221, 231) is separately formed on the support portions, each being substantially perpendicular to the support portion. A gap is defined between the arms and is resiliently adaptable to receive a CPU pin in a range of diameters. At least a recess (222) is defined in the support portion adjacent to a junction between the arm and the support portion. A soldering portion (11) extends from the lower edge of the base portion for soldering to an external device.

摘要: A substantially rectangular socket connector for connecting a CPU to a mother board, comprises a base and cover mounted on the base and movable relative thereto between open and closed positions along a diagonal direction of the connector. The cover defines a number slots extending in a direction parallel to the diagonal direction. The base forms a number of teeth slidably received in the slots. A number of contacts are fixedly received in contact passages defined in the base for engaging with/disengaging from pins of the CPU inserted into the connector in response to a movement of the connector between the closed and open positions. The cover further forms at least a ridge in a corresponding slot to divide the corresponding slot into two recessed regions. The tooth extending into the corresponding slot is received in either of the two recessed regions when the connector is at either of the open and closed positions whereby the connector can be more securely located at these two positions.

摘要: An electrical connector (4) electrically connects a CPU (6) to a motherboard (3) and comprises a housing (40) and a plurality of contacts (5). The housing has a first face (41) for engaging the CPU, a second face (42) for attaching to the motherboard and a plurality of contact passageways (43) defined between the two faces for receiving the contacts. Each contact comprises a contact section (51) which extends beyond the first face and engages a corresponding contact of the CPU, a tail (52) received in the contact passageway, and a receiving section (53) opposite the contact section which abuts a mating face (44) of the passageway proximate to the second surface to form an arcuate receiving surface for engaging a solder ball (2). After the solder ball is heated, the tail is electrically engaged to a contact on the motherboard. Due to the configuration of the arcuate receiving space, the solder ball remains in its original position and the contact is prevented from inclining.
