An actuator includes at least two piezoelectric devices arranged for crossing displacing directions thereof at a predetermined angle, a chip member provided at a coupling point of the piezoelectric devices, and a spring for contacting the chip member to a rotor driven by the actuator. The piezoelectric device is driven for moving the chip member trailing an elliptical trail. The rotation velocity or the driving torque of the rotor is controlled by varying at least one of a length of a major axis or a minor axis of the elliptical trail and an inclination angle of the major axis or the minor axis with respect to a normal at a contacting point of the chip member and the rotor.

Provided is an inexpensive, high performance, compact, and energy saving light reflection mechanism comprising a first moving portion having a reflecting surface on the front surface, a supporting portion which supports the first moving portion, a first beam and a translating beam which couple the first moving portion and the supporting portion in the form of cantilever beam above and below the supporting portion, and a drive portion which moves the first moving portion, wherein a large amplitude can be obtained by small energy when the first moving portion is forced into resonance vibration in the direction perpendicular to the first reflecting surface. Also provided is an optical interferometer and a spectral analyzer.

An application generation system configured to automatically generate an application having a desired function is disclosed. The application generation system has a mobile terminal including computation means for performing predetermined computation processing, image capture means for capturing an information code, decoding means for decoding the information code to extract character information, display means for displaying predetermined information, and first communication means for communicating character information. The system includes a server having second communication means for communicating with the first communication means, an assessment database storing assessment rules, a program component database storing program components, and analysis means which analyzes character information received by the second communication means to determine results of the analysis based on the assessment rules stored in the assessment database to determine information related to attributes and configuration of an application to be generated as well as program components configuring the application.

An appearance inspection apparatus has conveying means for conveying an inspection object and surface shape inspecting means for inspecting the surface shape of the inspection object. The surface shape inspection means has a slit beam irradiating section for irradiating a band-shaped slit beam on the surface of the inspection object, an area sensor camera for capturing images of the slit beam, first and second optical mechanisms for receiving reflected lights of the slit beam on the downstream and upstream sides in a conveyance direction, respectively, and guiding them to the area sensor camera, and a shape judging section for judging appropriateness of the surface of the inspection object based on images captured by the area sensor camera. Optical paths of the first and second optical mechanisms allow images of the reflected lights to be formed on the area sensor camera in a state of being aligned laterally.

On a driven film (13) forming the upper wall surface (21a) of the pressurizing chamber (21) and the side-chamber (23), a lower electrode (33), a driving member, and an upper electrode (35) are formed in this order. The driving member is composed of an operation section (31p) located over the pressurizing chamber (21), and an extended section (31a) extending from the operation section (31p) to over the side-chamber (23). The side-chamber (23) has a smaller width than the pressurizing chamber (21) in a second direction perpendicular to a first direction in which the side-chamber (23) is located beside the pressurizing chamber (21). The extended section (31a) of the driving member has a smaller width than the side-chamber (23) in the second direction.

A stress relaxing layer L22 composed of MgO is formed on the upper surface of a substrate layer L1 in order to alleviate stress acting on a piezoelectric layer L3, the stress relaxing layer L22 is removed while leaving behind a region D1 where the piezoelectric layer L3 is to be formed, and the single crystal piezoelectric layer L3 is formed on the upper surface of the stress relaxing layer L22. As a result, the stress relaxing layer L22 in a region D2 where the piezoelectric layer L3 is not to be formed is preliminarily removed, the region D1 where the piezoelectric layer L3 is to be formed is reduced in size, and stress acting on the piezoelectric layer L3 attributable to the difference in lattice constant between the stress relaxing layer L22 and the piezoelectric layer L3 and thermal expansion is alleviated, thereby enabling favorable single crystallization of the piezoelectric layer L3.

An optical deflector and a light beam scanning apparatus characterized by stable amplitude and speed wherein the fluctuation of the resonant frequency resulting from various factors such as a temperature change is corrected to a predetermined level, and the amplitude of the resonant scanner is kept to a predetermined level. An electromechanical transducer is used as a control element to control the potential difference resulting from the electric charge occurring in the control element caused by rotational vibration of the optical deflector, whereby the fluctuation of the resonant frequency resulting from various factors such as a temperature change is corrected to a predetermined level and the amplitude of the resonant scanner is kept at a predetermined level. This arrangement provides an optical deflector and a light beam scanning apparatus characterized by stable amplitude and speed.
Abstract:
In an image reading apparatus in which a document is read with scanning by a image pickup device, a height of the document and an outline of the document are detected. Based on the detected height and outline data, together with a calculating of a document size, an offset amount from a setting reference position of the document is calculated. Based on the calculations, the image is processed properly. Also, if the document is not placed correctly or a degree of an image distortion is not within a correctable range, an alarm is issued.

In an image reading apparatus for reading from above the image of a document, which has some thickness like a book or a file and is laid on a document table with its reading surface facing upward, a histogram regarding the brightness distribution of the reading surface is generated based on the image data of the reading surface, and the mode brightness and the maximum brightness of the reading surface are calculated, and it is determined whether show-through exists on the reading surface depending on the difference between the mode brightness and maximum brightness for preventing false detection of the base brightness caused by show-through effect.
