    摘要: In a thin film transistor array substrate, when a light shield pattern is formed in the space between a wiring group and a transparent electrode film, a trench which makes it possible to reduce bright spot defects is formed in an insulating film without revealing a light shielding film, by intentionally leaving a part of an a-Si film which is a semiconductor film constituting a thin film transistor. Accordingly, it is possible to manufacture a thin film transistor array substrate with less bright spot defects without increasing the number of manufacturing processes.

    摘要: A lighting apparatus for illuminating a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel from behind is disclosed, wherein the LCD panel, when illuminated uniformly, exhibits asymmetric contrast ratios as viewed in a vertical direction. The apparatus comprises a light guide panel having a multitude of light reflecting dots on a reflecting surface opposite to the LCD panel, and a light source for injecting light into the light guide panel in a horizontal direction through a first edge of the light guide panel, so that the light propagates through the light guide panel toward the opposite edge of the panel and irregularly reflects off the dots toward the liquid crystal display panel. The light reflecting dots in a lower portion of the reflecting surface have a lower density than those in an upper portion of the reflecting surface, and each of these portions of the reflecting surface has a density increasing as a function of distance from the first edge of the light guide panel so that the LCD panel has equal brightness at the upper and lower portions when viewed at an angle substantially equal to 90.degree. and an angle smaller than 90.degree., respectively.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display substrate includes a first substrate, a second substrate, terminals, and a conductive region. The first substrate has a large number of pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix. The second substrate is arranged to be opposite to the first substrate and to interpose a liquid crystal with the first substrate and has a counter electrode for performing liquid crystal display by a voltage applied across said pixel electrodes and the counter electrode. The terminals include common electrode terminals arranged at one part of a peripheral portion of the first substrate. The conductive region is formed at a part of the peripheral portion in which the terminals of the first substrate are not formed, and the conductive region is connected to at least one of the common electrode terminals to apply a common potential to the counter electrode. A liquid crystal display device using the above liquid crystal display substrate is also disclosed.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for continuous shaping of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic tubes, wherein a carbon fiber prepreg in tape form impregnated with a thermosetting resin is laminated on and around a mandrel, then the laminated carbon fiber prepreg tape on the mandrel is preheated, and the thus preheated laminate is pulled in and through a hot die together with the mandrel so as to subject the carbon fiber prepreg to gelling, curing and shaping into a predetermined carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic tube, the pulling operations being continuously carried out by alternate motion of first and second grasping mechanism in such a manner that the pulling force is generated in the second grasping mechanism, while the first grasping mechanism still retains its pulling force, and finally the gellation of the laminate is completed at the first half part of the hot die.

    摘要: A liquid-crystal display suitable for the optically compensated birefringence (OCB) display mode is used so as to simplify the voltage setting relating to display of each color by setting as follows. A liquid-crystal layer is oriented to bend alignment between a pair of substrates. A phase compensation plate is set for compensating a phase of the liquid-crystal layer outside of each of the substrates. And a retardation between the liquid-crystal and the phase compensation plates is set to a value ½ or less of the minimum wavelength of the light relating to display.
