    Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide a device that includes a full color display. A camera may be disposed below the full color display. A controller may modify a video signal applied to one or more sub-pixels of the full color display based on a predicted degradation of the one or more sub-pixels, such that the modification is updated by the controller based on luminance data for the one or more subpixels acquired by the camera.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide a device that includes an organic light emitting device (OLED), and a drive circuit to control the operation of the OLED, comprising a response time accelerator thin film transistor (TFT) configured to short or reverse bias the OLED for a predetermined period of time during a frame time. Other embodiments include an OLED having a plurality of sub-pixels, where one or more of sub-pixels configured to emit light of at least a first color comprises a first emissive area and a second emissive area that are independently controllable, where the first emissive area is larger than the second emissive area. The controller is configured to control the second emissive area to have (i) a higher brightness, and/or (ii) a higher current density than the first emissive area for a first sub-pixel luminance level that is less than a maximum luminance.

    Abstract: A light emitting device comprises a waveguide, a downconverting thin-film stack in optical communication with the waveguide, and an OLED thin-film stack in optical communication with the downconverting thin-film stack. An integrated photonic system comprises the downconverted as described above, wherein the downconverted OLED stack is integrated with a silicon photonic chip or CMOS photonic chip. A method for providing pump light for a silicon photonic integrated circuit comprises providing the integrated photonic as described above, producing light via the OLED thin-film stack; downconverting the produced light via the downconverting thin-film stack, and guiding the downconverted light via the waveguide.

    Abstract: An apparatus that includes a plurality of OLEDs provided on a first substrate is disclosed. Each OLED includes a first electrode, a second electrode disposed over the first electrode, and an organic electroluminescent material disposed between the first and the second electrodes. The apparatus also includes a first capping layer that is disposed over the second electrode of at least a first portion of the plurality of OLEDs such that the first capping layer is optically coupled to at least the first portion of the plurality of OLEDs, and a second capping layer. The second capping layer is disposed over the second electrode of at least a second portion of the plurality of OLEDs such that the second capping layer is optically coupled to the second portion of the plurality of OLEDs but not the first portion of the plurality of OLEDs, and the second portion of the plurality of OLEDs is different from the first portion of the plurality of OLEDs.

    Abstract: Devices and techniques are provided in which an OLED panel is operated in two modes. The first mode operates in a standard way to display an image or video or otherwise illuminate sub-pixels of the panel. In the second mode, some pixels are operated at a lower brightness than in the first mode. The use of multiple modes allows for improved sub-pixel lifetime and reduced sub-pixel and image degradation.
