    摘要: An improved hand tool includes a well at the top of the handle into which the upper end of the shank extends. The well is adapted to receive a torque producing socket wrench drive which engages the shank in order to transmit the torque producing drive directly to the tip of the hand drive tool. In the preferred embodiment the shank which extends into a well has a hexagonal cross-section and is adapted to cooperate with a standard socket wrench. Tips of various configuration may be employed.

    摘要: An attachment for a spraying device which permits spraying to be performed in small spaces and has both bendable and retractable features is provided. An inverted L-shaped portion has a top side and a bottom side. The bottom side is connected to a vacuum hose. The top side is attached to a bendable top hose which includes an internal bendable coaxial tubing which terminates at a nozzle. A removable support engages the nozzle at the end of the top hose. The rear of the coaxial tubing includes an attachment to the spraying device. The top hose and support permit the spraying attachment to spray hard to reach areas. The nozzle support is removable, permitting the top hose to be retracted about the coaxial tubing, freeing the nozzle to access even harder to reach areas. The attachment can evacuate any spray particulates which do not affix to the workpiece.

    摘要: The invention is an airborne contamination control system with a main device unit and a remote unit. The main airborne contamination control unit is a cabinet including a motor in communication with an air treatment path. The main unit has a variety of configurations. The main unit has the capability to be connected to any of a plurality of lightweight remote units, depending on the specific application. These remote units are highly portable and of a small dimension which permits them to be employed in areas inaccessible to the main unit. The main unit is connected to the remote unit by an elongated and flexible duct. Both the main unit and remote unit have a general cabinet structure with mounting structure designed to receive dual or single articulated suction ducts thereon. The articulated suction ducts may be placed proximal a work piece which is being coated, abraded or treated by spraying. The articulated suction ducts collect overspray and errant particles and transports them to and through a filter located in the main unit. The filtered air is then exhausted through an exhaust port on the main unit. An elongated duct may be connected to the exhaust port to transport the air to a distant location. The invention permits the main unit to be employed independently on easily accessible locations as well as in conjunction with the remote unit in difficult to reach locations. The remote unit may further be adapted to other configurations which would increase its utility.

    摘要: An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for supplying DC power to a load and a method of providing uninterruptible DC power to a load. In one embodiment, the UPS includes: (1) a first stage rectifier that rectifies AC input power received from a primary power source into DC power at an intermediate voltage, (2) a second stage rectifier, coupled to the first stage rectifier, that converts the DC power at the intermediate voltage into DC power for the load at an output voltage that is lower than the intermediate voltage and (3) a solid state transfer switch, coupled between the first stage rectifier and the second stage rectifier, that transfers secondary input power received from a secondary power source to the second stage rectifier only when a voltage of the secondary input power exceeds the intermediate voltage.

    摘要: An orthopaedic stem inserter grips and inserts a prosthetic implant having a stem into a prepared opening in a bone. A handle includes a housing, a rotating knob connected to a first end of the housing, and an elongate element connected to the knob and extending through the housing to a second end of the housing. A body includes a pair of jaws, with each jaw being configured to grip the implant. One of the jaws is movable in directions toward and away from the other jaw. A geared rack is connected with the movable jaw. A first gear is connected with the rack, and a second gear is connected with the elongate element and selectively enmeshes with the first gear. A quick release lever is pivotally attached to the handle and has an engaging portion which engages the second gear. The quick release lever moves the second gear toward and away from the first gear upon pivotal movement relative to the handle and thereby respectively enmeshes and demeshes the first and second gears. A ratchet device allows movement of the movable jaw in the direction toward the other jaw upon application of an external force to the movable jaw.

    摘要: An apparatus is disclosed which uses a high volume low pressure air curtain in an "air chisel" to inhibit and reduce the bounceback and overspray of material sprayed on a work surface. The air chisel directs a lateral air curtain along each side of a plume of sprayed material parallel to the long axis of the plume and directed toward the contact of plume and work surface. An air chisel may be attached to a spray gun or may be mounted on a stand adjacent to the work surface. Any source of high volume low pressure air may serve to provide air to an air chisel.

    摘要: A process of applying a finish to an electrically conductive vehicle body by passing the body through a water-based electrocoating bath while applying a voltage between the body and the bath to electro-coat the body with constituents of the bath. The coat is dehydrated to a state of sufficient dryness to permit spray application of a water-base primer while maintaining the coat cool enough to avoid fusing the coat. A coating of water-base primer is then sprayed over the dehydrated but otherwise untreated E coat. The coat and coating are then baked to concurrently fuse both of them. The primer sprayed on an interior portion of the body is pigmented to a desired finished color. Selected portions of the baked coating on the exterior of the body are light sanded to remove entrained dirt and thereafter finish coating is applied to the body.
